Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House, at Auckland, this twenty-first day of February, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the undermentioned gentleman to be a Medical Referee under "The Government Annuities Act, 1869":

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by Proclamations bearing date the twentieth day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight; the third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine; and the ninth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine respectively; the limits of certain Ports in the Colony of New Zealand were, for the purposes of "The Marine Act, 1867," defined: And whereas it is expedient to define the Ports in the Schedule hereto described:

Now therefore, I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf by "The Marine Act, 1867," do hereby proclaim the places mentioned in the second column of the Schedule hereto to be Ports within the meaning of the said Act, and do order that, for the purposes of the said Act, the limits of the said Ports shall be the limits defined in the third column of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

Province Port Seaward Limits
Taranaki Urenui A circle of one and a half nautical mile radius from the West Head.
Taranaki Opunake A circle of one and a half nautical mile radius from the Head on the north-west boundary of the Township.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at Auckland, this ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
