"TURNPIKE ORDINANCE, 1868."

New Plymouth, November 25, 1870.
WHEREAS in exercise of the authority vested in the Superintendent by an Ordinance intituled "An Ordinance to authorise the erection of Toll Bars and levying Tolls within the Province of Taranaki," a Toll Gate was erected at the Whaler’s Gate on the South Road, and Thomas Mace was appointed Collector of Tolls thereat; and whereas it is expedient that the Gate be extended to include that portion of the Omata Road opening into the Barrett Road, and on the west side thereof:
Now therefore, I, Frederic Alonzo Carrington, Esquire, Superintendent, do hereby notify that the said Whaler’s Gate Toll Gate is extended, and that the said Omata Road hereinbefore described, forms part thereof, and Tolls are leviable thereat by the said Thomas Mace from and after this date.

CERTIFICATE of the execution of road work in a District to the amount of Rates due by a Ratepayer, signed by two Commissioners of the District, will be taken by the Assistant Treasurer as payment of Rates, and a receipt given accordingly.
