Matthew Cascick

to be keeper of the Pound on the farm of the said M. Cascick, at Mangorei, vice W. Wells, resigned.

Importation of Cattle and Sheep from the United Kingdom.

IT is hereby notified for general information, that instructions have been given to Collectors of Customs to allow the landing of Cattle and Sheep imported from the United Kingdom, after they have been inspected by the Inspector, under the Diseased Cattle Act, 1861, and have been pronounced by him in a written certificate to the Collector to be free from infectious or contagious disease.

Branding of Cattle Ordinance, 1865.

Appointing places for exposing Cattle for public inspection.

New Plymouth, April 9, 1866.

IN exercise of the powers vested in the Superintendent by the “Branding of Cattle Ordinance, 1865,” I do hereby declare that I have appointed the places below specified to be places at which Cattle shall be exposed for public inspection in accordance with the provisions of the said Ordinance.

The Stockyard on section No. 80, Omata District, part of the farm of Messrs. A. A. Kingdon.

The Stockyard recently erected on J. Balfour’s farm, section No. 54, Omata District, and near to the Stockyard proclaimed for the same purpose in the Provincial Government Gazette, No. 56, of the 12th December, 1865.

THE undermentioned officers, enrolled previous to the passing of “The Volunteer Act, 1865,” not having within sixty days of the date on which the said Act came into operation, again tendered its services to the Government, is in accordance with the provisions of Section VII. of the said Act, now disbanded, and the gentlemen whose names are set opposite to the corps to which they belonged, have ceased to hold the rank of officers in such corps, their commissions having under the same clause lapsed:—

Taranaki Rifle Volunteers.

Captain M. Jonas, Taranaki Militia, late Captain.

Lieutenant William Blacks, Taranaki Militia, late Captain.

Lieutenant William Free, Taranaki Militia, late Lieutenant.

Ensign Matthew Carrick, Taranaki Militia, late Ensign.

Ensign J. R. Lawson, Taranaki Militia, late Ensign.
