ROADS AND BRIDGES.

Notice altering the Minimum Rates, and the month for General Meetings, and appointing General Meetings of the 6th and 17th Districts.

New Plymouth, December 14, 1866.

WHEREAS by the 2nd clause of the “Roads and Bridges Ordinance, 1858,” it is provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, amongst other things, to constitute districts within which the provisions of the said Ordinance shall be in force. Provided that no such notice shall at any time be published without the previous approval of the Provincial Council. Now, therefore, I, Henry Robert Richmond, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, in exercise of the before recited authority do hereby, with the approval of the Provincial Council, constitute the undermentioned block of land to be District No. 12 under the provisions of the said recited Ordinance.

12th District.

The block of land bounded as follows, viz.:

  • On the north-west side by the Mangorei river from its junction with the Waiwakaiho river to the point where it is intersected by the west boundary line of the Omata block, from thence in a straight line to the point where the Waiwakaiho river is intersected by the Panitutu line, thence along the Waiwakaiho river until it joins the Mangorei.

Superintendent’s Office,
New Plymouth, December 14, 1866.

WHEREAS by the 49th clause of the “Roads and Bridges Ordinance, 1858,” power is given to the Superintendent, with the approval of the Provincial Council, by notice to be published in the Government Gazette, to alter the minimum rate to be imposed in any District, and to alter the month in which General Meetings of the Electors for each District shall be held: Now, therefore, I, Henry Robert Richmond, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, do hereby, with the approval of the Provincial Council, appoint that the minimum rate to be imposed in the 6th District shall be 4d. per acre, and in the 17th District 6d. per acre, and I hereby alter the month for the holding of General Meetings of the Electors for the undermentioned Districts from the month of May, 1866, to December, 1866; and I hereby appoint that such General Meetings shall be held as follows:

6th District.
At the Taranaki Institute, on Saturday, the 22nd December next, at 3 p.m.

17th District.
At the Taranaki Institute, on Saturday, the 22nd December next, at 3 p.m.

IN addition to those already gazetted, the undermentioned gentleman has received a license to survey lands under the “Native Lands Act, 1865.”
