Miscellaneous Notices

Your Honor will furnish lists of persons desired to be sent for, they will be transmitted to the Agents in England who will be instructed to send them out on the same terms and subject to the same engagements as other Emigrants of the General Government.

(Signed) WILLIAM FOX.

His Honor the Superintendent,
New Plymouth.

Colonial Secretary’s Office,
Auckland, 27th May, 1864.

Sir, — I have to acknowledge the receipt of your Honor’s letter of the number and date quoted in the margin, (No. 34, 23rd May, 1864,) and, in reply, to inform you that the Government scheme of Emigration has not been definitively settled, as it was found desirable that a certain latitude of modification should be given to the Agents, so as to ensure that there should not be a failure on the ground of some objectionable, but perhaps unimportant stipulation. Parties who wish their friends to be brought out under the Government Regulations should instruct them to apply to the Emigration Commissioners in England, (Park-street, Westminster,) who will be in possession of all the information. The Government here, if desired, will instruct that preference should be given such friends.

I have, &c.,
(Signed) FRED. WHITAKER,
In the absence of Mr. Fox.

CHARLES BROWN,
Superintendent.
