HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following appointments in the Taranaki Militia:

Lieutenant Walter Morrison, to be Captain. Date of Commission—4th December, 1862.

Lieutenant J. H. Armstrong, to be Captain. Date of Commission—5th December, 1862.

Ensign Wm. B. Messenger, to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission—4th December, 1862.

Ensign J. S. McKellar, to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission—5th December, 1862.

Ensign Francis Standish, to be Lieutenant. Date of Commission—6th December, 1862.

Mr. Robert Chisenhull Hammerton, to be Ensign. Date of Commission—25th October, 1862.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to accept the resignation of Lieutenant Alfred McKellar, and Ensign Thomas Good, of the Taranaki Militia.

CLEANSING THE TOWN.

Superintendent’s Office,

New Plymouth, 20th December, 1862.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until noon on Saturday, the 27th instant, for the year commencing 1st January, 1863, for removing the ashes, dust, and other refuse of the Town of New Plymouth.

For cleansing monthly, the water closets at the Kawau Pah, Mount Eliot, Market Place, Gaol, and St. Germain’s Square.

And at per water closet, as may be required from time to time, by the Government or the public.
