NOTICE

Superintendent’s Office,

New Plymouth, 15th Sept., 1862.

WHEREAS it is enacted by the “Municipal Police Ordinance, 1862,” that every person who shall keep any pigs enclosed or at large within the limits specified in the Schedule of the said Ordinance shall for every such offence forfeit and pay a penalty of £5. Provided that pigs at large, the owners whereof are not known may be seized, and the Resident Magistrate or any Justice may order such pigs to be sold if unclaimed after 21 days notice in writing to be affixed on the Town Pound (any provisions of the Impounding Ordinance notwithstanding), and the money arising from such sale if claimed within 21 days after the sale shall be paid to the owners of such pigs after deducting the penalty and expenses, otherwise be applied to the public uses of the Province.

And it is further enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, on being thereto requested by resolution of the Provincial Council, by notice to be published in the Government Gazette from time to time to extend contract or alter the limits within which the preceding provision shall be in force.

Now, therefore, I, Charles Brown, Esq., Superintendent of the said Province do hereby, in pursuance of a resolution of the said Council to that effect notify and declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance relating to the keeping of pigs enclosed or at large shall come into operation on the 31st day of October next, within the following limits in the Town of New Plymouth, viz.:—

The block of land, including St. Germain’s Square, bounded on the north-east by Devon-street, on the south-east by Buller-street, on the north-west by Town allotments Nos. 1332, 1346, 1364, 1382, 1408 and 1431 and on the south-west by Town allotments, Nos. 1312, 1335, 1360, 1378, 1396 and 1421.

TENDERS are invited for the supply of IRON WORK as may be required by the Provincial Government for the period ending 31st December, 1862.

Tenders will be received at this Office until noon of Tuesday, the 23rd instant.
