TENDERS FOR RATIONS.

5th June, 1862.
TENDERS will be received at this Office until Saturday the 14th inst. from persons willing to contract with the Government for the supply of the undermentioned rations for six months ending 31st December, 1862:
- Bread, at per lb.
- Meat, " " "
- Flour, " " "

It is hereby notified that all officers of the Provincial Government, who may be members of Volunteer companies, will be allowed half a day in each week for parade, on the same conditions as are stated in the subjoined despatch from the Colonial Secretary, applicable to officers of the General Government.

Sir,—I have the honor to inform you that it is the intention of the Government to direct by notice in the Gazette the heads of departments under control of the General Government to allow, when the exigencies of the public service admit, their subordinate officers who are members of Volunteer Corps half a day in each week (on such day as shall be fixed by the Commanding Officer) to attend parade.
It will be expressly enjoined that unless the Officers of Government attend the parade, for which this leave from official duty is granted, a day’s pay will be deducted from their salaries should they be absent from both office and parade.
I shall be glad to learn that your Honor has been able to make similar arrangements for the Officers of the Provincial Government of Taranaki.

In exercise of the power vested in me under the provisions of “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” I have appointed Edward St. Clair, to be Inspector of Diseased Cattle for the Province of Taranaki, vice W. Devenish, resigned. The appointment to date from 1st instant, and to terminate 31st December, 1862.

I have appointed Edward St. Clair, to be Inspector of Sheep under the provisions of the “Scab Ordinance, 1854,” vice W. Devenish, resigned. The appointment to date from 1st instant, and to terminate 31st December, 1862.
