NOTICE UNDER CATTLE BRANDS' ORDINANCE.

New Plymouth, 15th October, 1861.
NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the power vested in me by the above Ordinance, I have appointed the yard situate on Mr. Rossiter's farm, between the Mangorei road and the river Waiwakaiho, as the place in the Lower Mangorei District at which Cattle are to be exposed previous to branding.

PERSONS cultivating Town land are particularly cautioned against burning furze and fern towards nightfall, the same being liable to mislead the garrison.
The inhabitants are likewise cautioned against throwing or causing offensive matter to be thrown or deposited in the Town ditches.
The above are infringements of the Municipal Police Ordinance, and, moreover, interfere with the military occupation and protection of the Town. The Police are accordingly instructed to prosecute in all cases occurring after this notice.

THE following letter from Colonel Warre, C.B., Commanding H.M.'s Troops Taranaki is published for general information, and the Superintendent trusts that it will be implicitly obeyed by the inhabitants of the Province.

New Plymouth, 14th October, 1861.
SIR,—I have the honor to request that you will inform the inhabitants of New Plymouth that, pending arrangements now in progress for the settlement of Native difficulties, it is not expedient that any intercourse shall take place between Europeans not authorised to do so and the Natives known to be inimical to Her Majesty's Government; and to desire that all Europeans shall abstain from visiting the Native settlements at Mataitawa, &c, on the north, and the settlements south of the Tapuaeruru river. The Tataraimaka block being unoccupied and detached from the European settlements should not at present be re-occupied or visited by individuals; but His Excellency the Governor will not fail to give early attention to the isolated position of the owners of property on this land.
