THE following letter relative to the Taranaki Relief Fund is published for general information:—

Lyttelton, 6th August, 1861.

SIR,—
I am directed by the Lyttelton Committee to forward the funds at their disposal to the Treasurer of the Relief Committee at Taranaki, to be expended in accordance with the resolutions of the 23rd May, which I had the honor to forward you on a previous occasion.

Not knowing the name of the gentleman who acts as Treasurer to the Committee at Taranaki, it has been thought advisable to send through yourself. I therefore enclose a draft on the Union Bank of Australia at Auckland for the sum of Four Hundred and Twenty-one Pounds, sixteen shillings, and two pence, being the amount in the Lyttelton Bank to the credit of the Fund. Hoping to hear of its reception by you in due course,
