NEW PLYMOUTH, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 29, 1859.
PROCLAMATION.
By George Cutfield, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki.
WHEREAS by an Act of the Imperial Parliament, passed in the fifteenth and sixteenth years of the reign of her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” it is, amongst other things, enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to prorogue the Provincial Council from time to time whenever he shall deem it expedient so to do. Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Taranaki, do proclaim and declare that, in pursuance of the authority vested in me in that behalf by the said Act, I do hereby prorogue the Provincial Council of Taranaki, and that the said Provincial Council is prorogued accordingly.
Given under my hand, at New Plymouth, this twenty eighth day of December, 1859.
