Military Training Schedule

TARANAKI VOLUNTEER RIFLES

Adjutant’s Office,
14th December, 1859.

AFTER the 31st instant, the General Parades and District Drills will be held at the time and places following:

GENERAL PARADES.

In Town, at the Military Parade Ground, at 1 o’clock p.m., on the following Tuesdays,—January 3rd, March 6th, and May 1st.

DISTRICT DRILLS.

For the Town & Grey Local Sub-divisions, at the Military Parade Ground, at 2 o’clock p.m. on the following Mondays,—January 30th, March 26th, May 28th.

For the Bell Local Sub-division, in Mr. Rundle’s field at 1 o’clock p.m. on the following Fridays,—February 10th, April 13th, and June 15th.

For the Omata Local Sub-division, in Mr. Mc.Kellar’s field, at 1 o’clock p.m. on the following Thursdays,—February 2nd, April 5th, and June 7th.

For the Tataraimaka Local Sub-division, in Mr. Greenwood’s field at 1 o’clock p.m. on the following Tuesdays,—January 24th, March 20th, and May 22nd.

In consequence of the great distances which many have to travel to attend the General Parades, and even the District Drills, it has been deemed advisable to reduce the number to the lowest amount consistent with the efficiency of the corps.

The whole of the Parades and Drills have been arranged, so that in the event of the weather rendering exercise on the day appointed for the same impracticable, the exercise may be postponed to the same day in the following week.

The General Parades have been arranged, so that, in the event of any one being unavoidably absent on any day appointed for him to drill, he may avail himself of the opportunity of drilling with some other Local Sub-division, it being understood that each member of the force must attend at least one drill in every month.

The above regulations apply to all the members of the corps, in addition to which new members, and such as have not been passed by the Adjutant, will, until they shall be so passed, attend such further drill as may from time to time be appointed.

Wednesdays are reserved for Musketry Instruction and Target Practice, which will in every case be specially appointed.

By Order,

C. STAPP,
Adjutant.
