NOTICE.

Superintendent's Office,
New Plymouth, 23rd February, 1858.

WHEREAS by Notice dated the 25th
July 1857, a minimum rate of Six-
pence per acre was imposed on all lands
within the Sixth district under the autho-
rity of the Roads and Bridges Ordinance,
1857. And whereas the said Ordinance
was subsequently disallowed by the Gov-
ernor. And whereas by the Declaratory
Roads and Bridges Ordinance 1858 it is
enacted that all proceedings taken under
the disallowed Ordinance for the mainte-
nance of Public Works should have the like
force and validity as if the same had been
taken under the provisions of the Roads
and Bridges Ordinance 1858, Now there-
fore, I, the Superintendent of the Province
of New Plymouth Do hereby appoint that
the said Rate of Sixpence imposed on the
Sixth district shall be paid at the Office of
the Provincial Treasurer on the 10th day
of March next.

THE Provincial Government of New Ply-
mouth having been called upon to de-
liver up all arms and accoutrements in their
charge, all persons to whom Rifles and
other arms have been issued are hereby re-
quired to return them forthwith, together
with all accoutrements belonging to the
same, to the charge of the Armed Police.
