TENDERS FOR FIREWOOD.

Provincial Secretary's Office,
New Plymouth, 4th Jan., 1858.

TENDERS will be received at this Office until noon on Saturday, the 16th instant, for supplying the undermentioned Firewood for the use of the Government Offices :—

20 Loads split Tawa, 8 feet lengths
20 " Kohekohe "
(the loads being considered to contain 71 cubic feet.)

To be delivered as required before the 31st March.

Tenders to be sealed, and endorsed "Tender for Firewood."

Shuttleworth Brothers—
for split Tawa .......... 6s. 6d. per load
" Kohekohe... 6s. per load

for split Tawa ...... 6s. 4½d. per load
mixed wood ... 5s. 4½d. per load

NOTICE TO RATEPAYERS.

Provincial Treasurer's Office,
New Plymouth, 2nd January, 1858.

THE time appointed for the payment of the rates imposed upon the several districts hereinafter specified having expired, Notice is hereby given, that unless the same be paid at this office on or before the twenty-third day of January instant, proceedings will be taken for the recovery thereof, conformably with the 23rd clause of the Public Works Ordinance, Session 2, No. 9.

First.—Sixpence per acre.
Second.—Sixpence per acre.
Third.—One shilling per acre.
Fourth.—Sixpence per acre.
Fifth.—Ninepence per acre.

Eighth.—Threepence per acre.
Ninth.—One shilling per acre.
