New Plymouth—"That the Council approves of the publication in the Government Gazette of the annexed Notice revoking former notices, and re-constituting the Districts for the purposes of the Public Works Ordinance, Session 2, No. 9."

New Plymouth, 20th May, 1857.
WHEREAS by the 7th clause of the "Ordinance to provide for the maintenance of Public Works within the Province of New Plymouth," Session 2, No. 9, it is enacted, that a General Meeting of the Electors for the several Districts constituted under the Ordinance shall be convened in the month of February in the year 1855, and in the month of May in every succeeding year at such time and place as shall be appointed by the Superintendent. And whereas by the 42nd clause of the said Ordinance power is given to the Superintendent, with the approval of the Provincial Council, to vary the month in which such General Meetings shall be held; Now, therefore, I, the Superintendent, do hereby appoint that General Meetings of the Electors for the several Districts under the said Ordinance shall be held as follows, viz :—

For the Town District, at the Court House, in the Town of New Plymouth, on Monday, the 15th day of June next, at 4 o'clock, p.m.

For the First District, at the Bell Inn, in the Bell Block, on Tuesday, the 16th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Second District, at the Court House, in the Town of New Plymouth, on Saturday, the 20th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Third District, at the Court House, in the Town of New Plymouth, on Thursday, the 25th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Fourth District, at the Court House, in the Town of New Plymouth, on Saturday, the 27th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Fifth District, at the Court House, in the Town of New Plymouth, on Tuesday, the 30th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Sixth District, at the Omata Inn, in the District of Omata, on Thursday, the 18th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Seventh District, at the Omata Inn, in the District of Omata, on Friday, the 19th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

For the Eighth District, at the residence of R. Greenwood, Esq., on Section No. 20, in the Tataraimaka Block, on Thursday, the 25th day of June next, at 5 o'clock, p.m.

For the Ninth District, at the Omata Inn, in the District of Omata, on Monday, the 29th day of June next, at 2 o'clock, p.m.

THE following scale of charges will be in force from and after this date until further notice :—

Hire of large or small boats depend on destination and expense incurred.
Passenger in cargo boat (one way) 0 1 0
Cargo, landing or shipping per ton—
Outer anchorage ................... 1 0 0
Near ditto ........................... 0 15 0
Horses, per head ................... 0 10 0
Neat Cattle per head ............... 0 8 0
Sheep and Pigs per head ......... 0 0 8

NOTICE is hereby given, that a SPECIAL MEETING of the Justices of the Peace will be holden at the Resident Magistrate's Court, at New Plymouth, on Tuesday, the second day of June next, at twelve o'clock, noon, for the purpose of receiving applications for the Transfer of Publicans Licenses.
