PROCLAMATION.

IN exercise of the power in this behalf in me vested I, the Superintendent of the Province of New Plymouth, do hereby proclaim and appoint that the Fifth Session of the Provincial Council of the said Province shall be held at the Council Chamber, in the Town of New Plymouth, in the said Province, and shall commence on Wednesday, the sixth day of May instant, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon.

Given under my hand at New Plymouth, in the Province of New Plymouth, this thirtieth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-seven.

IT is notified for general information that a Writ for the election of a Member of the Provincial Council for the District of the Town of New Plymouth in the room of ISAAC NEWTON WATT, resigned, having been issued in accordance with the provisions of an Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand, the Returning Officer for the said District has returned the said Writ with a certificate to the effect that ISAAC NEWTON WATT, of New Plymouth, merchant, has been duly elected to serve as member of the Provincial Council for the District of the Town of New Plymouth—
