tion took place, he shall be deemed to have
committed a new offence.

3—In case the occupier of any land
abutting on a Road shall permit the said
weed to go to flower on the half of such
road adjacent to his land and bounded by
the middle line of the road, he shall be lia-
ble to the like penalty as if he had suffered
the said weed to flower on land in his own
occupation.

4—As respects land not actually occu-
pied the Owner thereof shall for the pur-
poses of this Ordinance be deemed the oc-
cupier. Licensees under an Ordinance of
the Superintendent and Provincial Council
passed in the second Session of the said
Council intituled "An Ordinance to regu-
late the occupation of certain unenclosed
lands in the Town of New Plymouth shall
not be deemed occupiers for the purposes of
this Ordinance of the lands comprised in
their respective licenses.

5—It shall be lawful for any person to
enter upon any lands whatsoever on which
the said weed may be growing, for the pur-
pose of destroying the same, or the flower
thereof—so that the person so entering do
no unnecessary damage.

6—This Ordinance shall come into ope-
ration at the expiration of 14 days from the
passing thereof.

NOTICE. I have appointed Corporal

Armed Police Force of the Province.

vates of the Armed Police Force.

THISTLE ORDINANCE.

NOTICE. Persons in occupation of
Lands whereon the Scotch Thistle is
growing are cautioned against suffering it
to flower or to remain in flower either upon
lands in their occupation or upon the half
of any Road adjacent to such lands after
the Ordinance above mentioned shall have
come into operation.

The Thistle Ordinance comes into opera-
tion on the 16th instant, and persons of-
fending after that date will be liable to a
penalty of Five Pounds.

A SPECIAL MEETING of the Justices
of the Peace for the Town and Pro-
vince of New Plymouth will be holden at
the Resident Magistrate's Court at New
Plymouth on Tuesday the 5th day of Feb-
ruary next at twelve o'clock noon for the
purpose of forming a Jury List for the en-
suing Year.

nership between the undersigned,
Thomas Standish and Frederic William
Nory Norris, Solicitors, under the Firm of
Standish & Norris was this day dissolved
by mutual consent, and they have appointed
Mr James Ritchie to pay and receive all
accounts owing from and to the said part-
nership.
