HARBOUR DEPARTMENT.

THE charges for landing and shipping goods in the Government Boats are fixed on the supposition of the regular employment of the Boats in all weathers throughout the year, and a heavy loss must be incurred by the Revenue if the facilities offered by the Department are taken advantage of in bad weather, or when it may otherwise suit the convenience of Shippers and Consignees. NOTICE is therefore hereby given that vessels landing or shipping goods in Private Cargo Boats, except under the written license of the Superintendent, or in his absence of the Harbour Master, will be wholly debarred from the use of the Government Boats.

Licenses for the use of Private Boats will be granted gratuitously as a matter of course in all cases where the Government Boats and Crews are already fully occupied, and it is not sought to evade any of the existing regulations of the Department.
