ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of December, 1868.
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by “The Lunatics Act, 1868,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor in Council, from time to time, to order and direct that all or any of the powers, functions, duties, and authorities vested in or required to be performed by the Governor, or the Governor in Council or the Colonial Secretary, by the said Act, within any Province or other District of the Colony, shall be exercised or performed by the Superintendent of any such Province or by any other person the Governor may think fit; and thereupon such functions,
powers, duties, and authorities may, by such Superintendent or other person, be exercised or performed within the Province or other District of the Colony specified:
Now, therefore, His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Colony, in pursuance and in exercise of the power and authority for that purpose vested in him, doth hereby order and direct that all the powers, functions, duties, and authorities vested in or required to be performed by the Governor, or the Governor in Council, or the Colonial Secretary, by “The Lunatics Act, 1868,” within the Province of Southland, shall be exercised by the Superintendent of such Province.
