cargill on the twelfth day of May, and the twelfth day of November, in each succeeding year, or as soon after the said days respectively as conveniently may be; and in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a Sunday or a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the day following.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of July, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight-hundred and sixty-eight.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-second day of July, 1868.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by “The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,” it is enacted that the said Act shall come into operation in each of the Provinces of New Zealand respectively on and from a day or days to be fixed in respect of each of such Provinces by the Governor in Council, whereof notice shall be published in the “New Zealand Gazette” and in the “Gazette” of the Province to which the same shall relate:

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, in pursuance and exercise of the power so vested in him as aforesaid, doth hereby, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony, appoint and fix the first day of August next to be the day on and from which “The Petty Sessions Act, 1865,” shall come into operation in the Provinces of Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough, Otago, and Southland, respectively.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor John Parkin Taylor, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Southland.

WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, the short title whereof is “The Superintendents Deputy Act, 1866,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any province, by proclamation to be published in the “Government Gazette” of such province to appoint such person as he may think fit, being an inhabitant of such province and being registered as an elector on the electoral roll of some electoral district within such province, to be his Deputy, and as such to do, perform, and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities (except as in the seventh clause of the said Act is excepted) which may be done, performed, or exercised by such Superintendent.

Now therefore, I, John Parkin Taylor, the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby appoint Henry Armstrong, an inhabitant of the said Province, registered as an elector on the electoral roll of the New River District, within the Provinces of Southland aforesaid, to be my Deputy, and as such to perform and exercise all the acts, powers, and authorities (except as in the seventh clause of “The Superintendents Deputy Act, 1866,” is excepted) which may be done, performed, or exercised by the Superintendent.

Given under my hand and sealed with the seal of the said Province this twenty-third day of July, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-eight.
