IN pursuance of the powers vested in me in that behalf I hereby give notice that after the 16th inst. the pound-keeper of the pound at Wallacetown is authorised to charge pound fees and sustenance charges according to the scale hereunto annexed.

POUND FEES.

For each entire horse above the age of twelve months ... 2 6
For each mare, gelding, colt, filly, foal, mule, ass, goat, or pig ... 1 0
For each bull above the age of twelve months ... 2 6
For each ox, cow, steer, heifer, or calf (first ten) ... 0 6
For each ox, cow, steer, heifer, or calf (next ten) ... 0 4
For each ox, cow, steer, heifer, or calf (next thirty) ... 0 3
For each ox, cow, steer, heifer, or calf (above fifty) ... 0 2
For each ram above the age of nine months ... 1 0
For each ewe, wether, or lamb (first twenty) ... 0 2
For each ewe, wether, or lamb (next thirty) ... 0 1½
For each ewe, wether, or lamb (next fifty) ... 0 1
For each ewe, wether, or lamb (above one hundred) ... 0 0½

The above fees to be paid for each day or part of a day during which the animal is kept in the Pound.

CHARGES FOR FOOD.

For every horse, mare, gelding, mule, ass, colt, filly, or foal ... 1 0
For every bull, cow, steer, heifer, or calf ... 0 6
For every sheep or lamb ... 0 2
For every goat ... 0 4
For every boar, sow, or pig ... 0 1

The above charges to be paid for each day or part of a day during which the animal is supplied with food and water by the Poundkeeper.

BYELAWS PASSED BY THE WARDENS OF THE ORETI HUNDRED, 18TH JUNE 1868.

I.—No Cattle of any description shall be depastured except by License Holders.

II.—Sheep shall be depastured only on such portions of the Oreti Hundreds as the Wardens may direct.

III.—No Entire Horse over twelve months old shall be depastured without special permission of the Wardens.

IV.—No Bull over six month’s old shall be depastured without special permission of the Wardens, and no Bull shall be at large for a longer period than three years.

V.—All License Holders shall on or before 15th July register with the nearest Warden a statement of the number of cattle and horses depastured by them with their description, and the brands with which they are marked.

VI.—Before removing cattle owners shall give notice in writing to the nearest Warden.

VII.—Any person about to bring cattle on the run shall one week before so doing furnish to the nearest Warden notice in writing, with such information as shall give opportunity for inspection of the cattle.

VIII.—No person shall be allowed to depasture more than one head of great cattle, for every five acres of land occupied by him, or one head of small cattle for every acre occupied by him within the Hundred.

IX.—All stray cattle shall be impounded.

X.—The penalty for any breach of the foregoing Bye-Laws shall be any sum not exceeding five pounds, to be recovered in a summary manner in accordance with the 45th Clause of “The Southland Waste Lands Act, 1865.”
