TOLLS FOR THE FOREST HILL BRIDGE

For each foot passenger ... 0 0 3

For each

  • horse, mule, ass, or
  • pack-bullock with rider,
    or conductor ... 0 1 0

For each head of neat cattle not exceeding fifty ... 0 0 3
For each additional head of neat cattle above fifty ... 0 0 2

For each sheep, goat, or pig, up to two hundred ... 0 0 1
For each additional head of sheep, goats, or pigs above two hundred ... 0 0 ½

For each cart, waggon, dray, carriage, or other vehicle drawn by one animal ... 0 1 6
For each cart, waggon, dray, carriage, or other vehicle drawn by two animals ... 0 2 0

For each additional draught animal attached to such vehicle forming part of the same team ... 0 0 6

Each pair of yoked bullocks in draught shall be considered equal to one horse, and shall be charged and paid for accordingly.

Droves of horses shall be paid for as neat cattle.

All passengers, animals, and vehicles, for whom or for which one toll has been paid shall be free to pass over the bridge throughout any one day, namely, from midnight to midnight.

Drivers and passengers by vehicles, such vehicles having paid toll, shall pass free, excepting passengers by public coaches which carry for a fare; such persons shall pay 6d toll. Children under two years old not being chargeable.

Her Majesty’s mails with persons in charge, whether on foot, horseback, or in any vehicle, shall pass free.

Vehicles and the means of draught conveying materials for road making or repairing, whilst so engaged under the authority of the Government, shall pass free.

All policemen and prisoners, all soldiers, militia, and volunteers (on duty), and other persons acting under Her Majesty’s authority, shall be free from toll.

The Superintendent and all General and Provincial Government Officers (on duty), bearing a pass signed by the Superintendent or by his authority shall be exempted.
