ORDER IN COUNCIL.

Approved in Council this seventh day of December, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

The President and Members of the Executive Council.

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in him vested for this purpose, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the Colony, doth hereby appoint the Town of New Plymouth, City of Dunedin, and the Town of Invercargill, in the respective Provinces of Taranaki, Otago, and Southland, to be the places at which William Smith Atkinson, Alfred Rowland Chetham Strode, and Frederick Nutsey Esquires, the persons appointed to be Curators of Intestate Estates within the said Provinces and Districts shall keep their respective offices.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the undermentioned gentlemen to be Resident Magistrates, under “The Resident Magistrates Act, 1867,” for the districts set opposite their names, as the same are defined in the proclamation dated the 29th day of November last:—

  • Henry M’Culloch, Esq., Southland District.
  • Daniel Shea Lawlor, Esq., Southland District.
  • Isaac Newton Watt, Esq., Southland District.
  • Henry Rogers, Esq., Southland District.

DISSOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership hitherto existing between us the undersigned Thomas Brown and John Paterson as Drapers, at Riverton, in the Province of Southland, New Zealand, under the style or firm of “Brown and Paterson,” was on the thirteenth day of November, now instant, dissolved by mutual consent.

All debts due to and owing by the late firm will be received and paid by the said John Paterson.

Dated at Dunedin this twenty-first day of November, 1867.

IN THE SUPREME COURT—OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND DISTRICT.

GENERAL ORDER.

UNDER and in pursuance of the authority to me given by the “Bankruptcy Act, 1867,” I do hereby order and specify that the Government Gazette of the Province of Otago is hereby specified and shall be deemed to be the Gazette, within the meaning of the said Act, for the publication of all matters and things arising within the said Province which may be required by the said Act to be gazetted: And that the Government Gazette of the Province of Southland shall in like manner be the Gazette for all matters and things arising in the last mentioned Province which may be required by the said Act to be gazetted.

NOTICE.—Attention is called to section fourteen of “The Stamp Duties Act Amendment Act, 1867,” which enacts that—

“Where any deed or instrument liable by law to any stamp duty shall be written on parchment or paper and shall be signed or executed by any person before it shall be duly stamped for denoting the payment of the said duty there shall be due and paid to the Commissioners the whole
