Sir,
I am aware, been required to find securities. It is proper to notice that the custody and control of the public monies pass, by the operation of the Provincial Audit Act, 1866, in a great measure out of the hands of the Provincial Treasurer, and, consequently, of the Accountant.
The other persons entrusted with the collection and custody of public monies, have not, as far as I am aware, been required to find securities. It is desirable to believe those sureties are no longer sufficient and satisfactory.
