PROCLAMATION.

By his Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight Commander of the most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

To the Speaker of the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland:

I HEREBY notify to you that the Office of Superintendent of the Province of Southland is now vacant.

As witness my hand, this 16th day of February, 1865.

Whereas His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand has this day notified to me, James Wilson, Esq., the Speaker of the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, that the office of Superintendent of the said Province is now vacant: Now therefore I, the said James Wilson, Speaker of the said Council, in pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf, do hereby fix and appoint that the Members of the Provincial Council of the said Province shall Meet at the Court-House, Invercargill; on Monday, the thirteenth day of March instant, at Twelve o’Clock noon, and Elect a duly qualified person to serve as Superintendent of the said Province: And the Members of the said Council are hereby warned to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.

Dated at Invercargill, this second day of March, 1865.


At a meeting held on 20th February, 1865, for the Election of Wardens for the Oteramika Hundred, for the current year, the undernentioned license holders for that District were elected:—

David M’Kay,
Wm. Johnston,
Wm. Kerr,
Proctor Nicholson, and
John Francis Dundas.
