It is hereby notified that A. M. Weldon, Esquire, has resigned the office of Director of Telegraphs for the Province of Southland.

It is hereby notified that J. A. Hutton, Esquire, has resigned the office of Operator in the Telegraph Department of the Province of Southland.

It is hereby notified that the portion of ground below mentioned shall be a Quarantine Ground for Sheep on and after this above date:

Quarantine Ground.

All that piece or parcel of land contained in the following boundaries:

Commencing at the Yellow Bluff on the Aparima River, thence along the east bank of the Aparima River till it cuts the north boundary line of the block of land under the “Land Sale and Leases Ordinance, 1856;” thence by the north boundary line aforesaid till it cuts the Oreti River; thence by the Oreti River to the mouth of Heddon Creek; thence by a straight line to the starting point, and containing by admeasurement Forty Nine Thousand Nine Hundred and Twenty (41,920) Acres, be the same more or less.


NOTICE TO MARINERS BOUND TO NEW RIVER.

THE Sand Spit, which during the past eighteen months has choked up the entrance to the Channel, is now being rapidly cleared away, and part of it being set towards the Pilot Station, causes a surf to break near it which prevents the Boats leaving the Station when any swell is setting in.

A Boat is therefore kept above the Bombay Rock in readiness to be used when required, and on the signal for a Pilot being made by a vessel in the offing the Pilot will proceed in this boat down the Blind Channel, and go as near to the
