PROCLAMATION.

By JOHN PARKIN TAYLOR, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.

WHEREAS in pursuance of the provisions of the 10th section of the "New Provinces Act, 1858," of the General Assembly of New Zealand, the Provincial Council of Southland, did, at a meeting held on the 18th day of January instant, duly elect me, JOHN PARKIN TAYLOR, Esquire, to be Superintendent of the Province of Southland, and the Speaker of the said Council, did at the said meeting, openly declare and publicly notify that I, the said JOHN PARKIN TAYLOR, was duly elected to be such Superintendent.

Now, therefore, I hereby declare and proclaim that I have assumed the office of Superintendent of Southland accordingly, and I hereby call upon the inhabitants of the said Province, to be aiding and assisting me therein.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Southland, at Invercargill, this fourteenth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.
