IT is hereby notified that I have appointed

JOHN HOLLAND BAKER, Esquire,

to be Chief Surveyor of the Province of Southland, the appointment to date from the 23rd ulto.

IT is hereby notified that

ROBERT PARK McGOWAN, Esquire,

was appointed Second Draughtsman in the Survey Department, on the 9th of October, 1862, but owing to an oversight, this appointment has not previously been gazetted.

A PROCLAMATION.

By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY, Knight Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

IN pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by virtue of an Act of the Imperial Parliament passed in the session held in fifteenth and sixteenth years of the Reign of Her Majesty Queen Victoria, intituled, “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” I do hereby summon and call together the GENERAL ASSEMBLY of New Zealand, to meet for the despatch of Business, on MONDAY, the TWENTY-FOURTH day of JULY next, at Two of the clock in the Afternoon, at the Parliament Houses situate in Molesworth-street, in the city of Wellington; and the Honorable Members of the Legislative Council and Members of the House of Representatives respectively, are hereby required to give their attendance at the said time and place accordingly.

Given under my hand, at the Government House at Wellington, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand, this twenty-second day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-five.

to be Deputy Returning Officer for the election of members of the Provincial Council of Southland, for the Electoral Districts of Riverton, Longwood, Aparima, Waianewa, and Waiau, under “The Regulation of Elections Act Amendment Act, 1863.”
