Superintendent’s Office,
Southland, 16th October, 1863.

IN pursuance of the powers in me vested in that behalf by a Commission given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, and the seal of the Colony of New Zealand, I hereby appoint the following persons, namely:—

Theophilus Heale, Esq., Andrew Jameson Elles, Esq., Alexander Jameson, Esq., Henry W. Whiton, Esq., William H. Cutten, Esq., Charles Watts, Esq., I. N. Watt, Esq., R.M., N. Chalmers, Esq., W. M’Clure, Esq., M.D., John Blacklock, Esq., John M’Donald, Esq., Samuel Hodgkinson, Esq., James Surman, Esq., J.P. Taylor, Esq., Theophilus Daniel, Esq., C. Cowan, Esq., F. Wentworth, Esq., to be a Committee within the Province of Southland, for the purpose of encouraging the production of articles to be exhibited at an Industrial Exhibition, to be held at Dunedin, of their transmission thither, and of conducting communication between Exhibitors and the Commissioners.

I appoint Robert Mitchell, Esq., of Invercargill (Returning Officer), to preside at the said Meeting; and in the event of a poll being demanded, I hereby appoint the polling to take place in the Office of the said Board, on Monday, the second day of November ensuing.

INVERCARGILL TOWN BOARD.

ELECTION OF TWO MEMBERS.

IN pursuance of the provisions of the “Town Board Ordinance, 1859,” I, the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, do hereby appoint the Electors entitled to vote for Members for the Town of Invercargill, in the Provincial Council of Southland, to assemble upon Saturday, the thirty-first day of October, at noon, in the School-house, Invercargill, for the purpose of electing two duly qualified persons who shall be Members of the Town Board of Invercargill, under the provisions of the Ordinance aforesaid, in the room of William Robertson and H. A. O’Neill, resigned: And I hereby appoint Robert Mitchell, Esq., of Invercargill (Returning Officer), to preside at the said Meeting.

I, Robert Mitchell, Returning Officer appointed by His Honor the Superintendent to preside at a Meeting of Electors entitled to vote for Members for the Town of Invercargill in the Provincial Council of Southland, assembled on Saturday, the tenth day of October, at twelve o’clock noon, at the School-house, Invercargill, for the purpose of electing four persons to be Members of the Town Board of Invercargill, hereby certify that the following persons were duly elected by a majority of votes:—

Henry Jago.
Charles Ewenolds.
John Trite Downes.
James Grieve.

Given under my hand at Invercargill, this tenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
