PROCLAMATION,
By JAMES A. R. MENZIES, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
In pursuance of the power in me vested, I do hereby proclaim and declare that the Districts described in the Schedule following shall be Districts for the purpose of Slaughtering Cattle under the provisions of the “Slaughter House Ordinance, 1847;” and I further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation within the said Districts on the fifteenth day of September, 1863.
Given under my Public Seal of the Province of Southland, this thirty-first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.

SCHEDULE.
WINTON DISTRICT.
Bounded on the south and south-east by the Dacre District (as proclaimed in the “Southland Gazette,” No. 48, 4th July, 1863); on the west by the Oreti River; on the north and north-east by a right line drawn from Ship Cone (Ohukama) towards Dipton Bush, to its intersection of the Oreti.
LOWTHER DISTRICT.
Bounded on the south by the Winton District; on the east by the Mataura River; on the north by the north boundary of the Province; on the west by a right line from Dipton Bush to the junction of the Windley River with the Oreti.

Southland, 31st August, 1863.
It is hereby notified that Mr. W. H. AYLMER has been appointed to be Clerk to the Superintendent, in succession to Mr. GILLEN, resigned.
