PROCLAMATION

Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
In pursuance of the provisions of the "Provincial Reserved Bills Act, 1858," Session 2, I hereby notify that the Ordinance passed by the Provincial Legislature of the Province of Southland, entitled "The Police Ordinance, 1862," has been laid before His Excellency the Governor, and that His Excellency has assented to the same.
And it is hereby further notified that the said Ordinance shall come into operation within the Province of Southland upon the first day of June 1862.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Southland, this second day of May one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

It is hereby notified that Mr. Fielder, Inspector of Sheep for the Province of Southland, has received leave of absence for one month on account of ill health.

Warrant defining District under "The Coroners’ Act, 1858."
By His Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight, Commander of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same.
Whereas by "The Coroners’ Act, 1858," the Governor is empowered in the manner therein mentioned to appoint fit persons to be Coroners of the several Districts of the Colony of New Zealand, and from time to time to define the Districts within which such Coroners shall respectively have jurisdiction, and every such definition to revoke or amend, and the limits of such Districts to alter as occasion may require. Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the said Colony, in pursuance of the said power and authority, do hereby define the Gaol and Hospital District of Southland to be all that piece of ground situated in the Township of Invercargill, and Province of Southland, bounded on the North by Esk-street, on the East by Dee-street, and on the South and West by Leven-street, with the buildings and others erected thereon.
Given under my hand, at the Government House, at Auckland, this twenty-sixth day of March, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.

NOTIFICATION
In virtue of the powers in me vested in that behalf, I hereby notify that the Stockyard enclosure, erected upon a part of the Town Belt, situated between Tay-street and Forth-street, in the Town of Invercargill, is appointed to be a Public Pound within the meaning and for the purposes of the Impounding Ordinance, No. 6, Session 8, 1847.
