PROCLAMATION
By JAMES A. R. MENZIES, Esquire,
Superintendent of the Province of Southland.
WHEREAS by the 12th section of the Provincial Council of the Province of Southland, Education Ordinance, 1862, it is enacted that the Province shall be divided into Educational Districts, each of a radius not exceeding four miles, every such district to be proclaimed by the Superintendent from time to time by notice, published in the Provincial Government Gazette, whenever the necessity arises for the establishment of a school within such district, or otherwise as he may see fit, and every such proclamation shall define the boundaries of every Educational District, hereby proclaimed.
And whereas it is expedient to proclaim the Districts hereinafter described, now, therefore,
I, the said Superintendent, in pursuance of the power in me vested in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the districts named in the schedule hereunder written, and whose boundaries are therein set forth, shall be Educational Districts under the said in part recited Ordinance, and I do hereby further declare that the provisions of the said Ordinance shall come into operation in the said districts from and after the twelfth day of April, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-two.
Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Southland, this ninth day of April, Eighteen hundred and sixty-two.

SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
INVERCARGILL HUNDRED.
No. 1. INVERCARGILL DISTRICT.
Town of Invercargill as included within the limits of the Town Reserve of that name.
No. 2. OTATARA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by the Waihopai,
East,—by road line fronting secs. 12, 17, 16, 37, 50 and 66, Block II. continued South 38 chains.
West,—Waihopai estuary, and East boundary of District No 1 and part of sec 1, Block III.
South,—South boundary of Block I continued East, till it runs East boundary of District.
WAIHOPAI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North, by North boundary of that part of Block IX, commencing at the N. W. corner of Section 25, Block IX, and running East of road line fronting on the North sections 13, 14, 18, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, Block X.
East,—by East boundary of Block X, and road line extension of the same units intersection with the Waihopai at the Mavis Bridge.
West,—by West boundary of Section 6, 21, and 34, Block IV, and 1, 12, 23, and 25, Block IX.
South,—The Waihopai.
MONA DISTRICT.
Bounded on the North by North boundary of that part of Block V, running
