PROCLAMATION

By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled “An Ordinance to amend the Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” and by the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1875,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of Otago, with the advice of his Executive Council, on the petition of not less than fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders resident in any township, or any two or more townships, distant not more than two miles from a common centre within the Province, to extend the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” to such township or townships, by such name or incorporation as he shall deem fit; and notwithstanding that such township, or in the case of two townships, either or both of them is or are included in a Road District, with such modification as to the names and numbers of the members of such proposed Corporation, and the office-bearers thereof, and any other municipal matters and regulations as shall seem to such Superintendent and his Executive Council suitable for the area and population of such Municipality; and, in accordance with such petition or otherwise, shall define the boundaries of the Municipality so created, and declare the number of Wards into which such Municipality may be divided, and define the boundaries of such Wards respectively, and declare which of the provisions of the said Ordinance shall be applicable to and within the limits of such Municipality: And whereas a petition of not less than fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders resident in the township of Gladstone, in the said Province of Otago, has been presented to me, George Turnbull, as Deputy-Superintendent of the said Province, praying that the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” may be extended to the said township: Now, therefore, I George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day of the date hereof the provisions of the said “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” specified in the first schedule hereto, shall extend to the said township of Gladstone, under the name of the Corporation of the town of Gladstone, and shall be applicable to and within the Municipality hereby created: And I do, with the like advice of my said Executive Council, proclaim and declare that such of the said provisions as are contained in the sections of the said last-mentioned Ordinance, specified in the first column of the second schedule hereto, shall extend to the said township, and be applicable to the Municipality hereby.

Of the Municipality of Gladstone.

By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by Section 7 of the “Oamaru Harbour Ordinance, 1874,” it is provided that so often as any person being a member of the Oamaru Harbour Board, otherwise than as Mayor of Oamaru, shall be absent from the Province of Otago for the space of six consecutive calendar months, it shall be the duty of the Superintendent to appoint by Proclamation in the “Otago Provincial Government Gazette” another fit and proper person to be a Member of the said Board in the room of the person so being absent as aforesaid:

Now, therefore I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby under and by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the said Ordinance, and of every other power enabling me in this behalf, proclaim and appoint


PROCLAMATION

By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, hereinafter described as is required by the said recited section of the said Ordinance have signed and caused to be presented to me a petition in the form of the second Schedule to the said Ordinance, praying me to constitute the portion of the said Province hereinafter described a Road District under the said Ordinance: Now therefore I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby proclaim, constitute, and declare all that area in the Province of Otago, in the Colony of New Zealand, commencing at the most southerly corner of section numbered 1, block VII, Dunback District, and also being the boundary of the Hawksbury Hundred, thence in a northerly direction along the western boundary of said Section 1, to McCormick’s Creek, thence in a westerly and north-westerly direction along said creek, to the south-western corner of Section numbered 15, Block IV, Dunback District, thence in a north-easterly direction along the north-western boundary of said Section 15, to the boundary line of said Block IV, thence again in a north-westerly direction, being south-western boundary of Block III, and IV, Dunback, and Block VI, Waihemo Survey District, to the north-western corner of Section 2, Block VI, Waihemo District, thence again in a north-easterly direction along said Section 2, and part of 1, to the Shag River, thence by the said river to Happy Valley Creek, thence again in a north-westerly direction along said creek to the Main Interior Road, and by part of said road, and around the boundary of Block I, Waihemo, thence in a south-easterly direction by the north-eastern boundary of Block V and III, Waihemo Survey District, to the boundary of Moeraki Hundred, thence in a south-westerly direction by the boundary of said Hundred to the Shag River, thence by the said River to its junction with McCormick’s Creek, thence again in a south-westerly direction by the boundary of the Hawksbury Hundred to starting point, and being the north-western boundaries of the Hampden and Palmerston Road Districts to be a Road District to be named the “Dunback Road District.”
