NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.

RATEPAYERS are hereby notified that on Saturday, the 1st July, 1876, a general rate of one shilling in the £ was made for the year ending June, 1877, and that the same is payable on the 1st August, 1876. Any person objecting to the assessment must do so in terms of clause 6, part 3, Highway Boards Empowering Act, the Board having no authority for hearing objections.

IMPOUNDED on the 8th day of July, 1876, by William Sloan:

One light bay horse, white blaze down face; no visible brand.

Also, on the 9th, by Henry Youngman:
One red Cow, branded like O W off rump.

And one red heifer Calf, no visible brand.
Owners unknown, for trespassing. Horse on Andrew Greagg’s paddock, Green Island; cow and heifer, Town Belt, for which driving fee, horse £1, cow and heifer, yard fee is. 6d. each, and in default of being released the above cattle will be sold at the public Pound at South Dunedin, on Friday, the 28th day of July, 1876, at twelve o’clock noon.

TEACHER Wanted for Maheno District School, vacant by the appointment of Mr. R. Peattie, M.A., to a mastership in the Girls’ High School, Dunedin.
Good residence and a nine-acre glebe, close to Railway Station.
Full particulars may be learned from the undersigned, with whom applications, with copies of testimonials, must be lodged on or before 10th August.
Duties to commence 1st October.

After meeting existing claims the remaining books will be distributed among Committees in the order of the dates on which moneys are paid in and claims lodged. The Committee that ordered copies of Scott’s Quentin Durward, Kenilworth, and Heart of Midlothian, will receive the same on application.
