WHEREAS Martin Cunningham, of North East Valley in the City of Dunedin, in the Provincial District of Otago, labourer, has this day been brought before me, one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said Provincial District of Otago, charged on the oath of Thomas Henderson, of the same place, labourer, with having, on or about the 26th day of November, 1875, at Lake Ohau, murdered one James Walsh:

These are therefore to command you the said Constable or Constables, in Her Majesty's name forthwith to convey and deliver the body of the said Martin Cunningham into the custody of the keeper of the said Gaol at Dunedin, together with this precept.

Given under my hand and seal at Dunedin this 27th day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

THREE HUNDRED POUNDS REWARD.

November, 1875, at Lake Ohau, was charged on the oath of Thomas Henderson with the wilful murder of James Walsh.

WHEREAS it has been represented to the Government of the Colony of New Zealand that on or about the 26th day of November, 1875, at Lake Ohau, one James Walsh was murdered, and whereas Martin Cunningham, of North East Valley, in the City of Dunedin, has been arrested on the charge of having committed the said murder, and whereas the evidence against the said Martin Cunningham is not yet sufficiently complete to justify his committal for trial:

Now therefore, in order to secure the due administration of justice, a reward of THREE HUNDRED POUNDS will be paid by the Government of the Colony of New Zealand to any person or persons (other than persons employed in the Police Force) who shall first give such information as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons who committed the said murder.

Notice is hereby given that reward of £300 will be paid by the Honourable the Colonial Government of New Zealand to any person who shall give information to the police leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator or perpetrators of the murder of James Walsh, committed at Lake Ohau, on or about the 26th day of November, 1875.

Any person desirous of giving such information should apply at once to the nearest police station, or to Edward Burke, Esq., Inspector of Police, Dunedin.

Description of Martin Cunningham, charged with the murder of James Walsh:

Native place, County Tyrone, Ireland; age, 5 feet 7 inches high; stout build; fresh complexion; black hair; whiskers and moustache; dark eyes; round face; swarthy; dark whiskers and beard; mole on right side of neck; tattooed on right arm with a name underneath it; believed to have gone by the name of "Sailor."

He is believed to have arrived in Port Chalmers about the ship "Jane Tudor" from his work on board for some years on the West Coast road, and was known generally employed on stations. He knows the back country well and has lived amongst the Natives.

FIFTY POUNDS REWARD.

MALICIOUS SETTING FIRE TO THREE STACKS OF OATS.

WHEREAS on the night of Thursday, the 16th instant, three stacks of oats, the property of Thomas Henderson, situate at the Haughs, were maliciously set on fire:

Now I, Edward Burke, Esquire, Inspector of Police for the Provincial District of Otago, do hereby offer a reward of FIFTY POUNDS to any person who will give such information as shall lead to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons by whom the said fire was caused.

Any person desirous of giving such information should apply at once to the nearest police station, or to the undersigned at Dunedin.
