WARRANT

APPOINTING AN OFFICER FOR THE REVISION OF THE CITIZENS’ LIST AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES IN THE INCORPORATED TOWN OF TAPANUI, IN THE PROVINCE OF OTAGO.

WHEREAS the Town of Tapanui has been incorporated under the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865”: And whereas by the 113th section of the said Ordinance it is amongst other things enacted that in cases where no special provision is made for the conduct of the first Elections under the said Ordinance, it should be lawful for the Superintendent of Otago to appoint such and so many persons as might be necessary to perform any of the said acts in the said Ordinance before required to be done by the Mayor, Councillors, Town Clerk, Collector, or other Officers, before such officers could be appointed or elected under the provision of the said Ordinance: And whereas by the 40th section of the said Ordinance the Mayor and Councillors of any town incorporated under the said Ordinance (in the said section called the Council) are constituted open Courts for the Revision of the Citizens’ Lists, and for hearing and determining the claims of the Citizens thereof to be inserted in such Lists, and the objections of such Citizens to any other Citizen having his name retained thereon: And whereas it is expedient to appoint a fit and proper person to perform the acts required to be done by the Mayor and Councillors, as constituting Courts of Revision under the said 40th section of the said Ordinance, and to do the several other matters and things directed and required by the said Ordinance in the Revision of the Citizens’ List for the said Incorporated Town of Tapanui: Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” and of all other powers in any wise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby nominate and appoint

MR. JOHN GRAHAM

to perform the acts required to be done by the Council in the Revision of Citizens’ List for the Town of Tapanui, and hearing and determining the claims of the Citizens thereof to be inserted in such List, and the objections of such Citizens to any other Citizen having his name retained thereon.

TOWNSHIP OF PURAKANUI
(Near Port Chalmers).

MONDAY, 6th MARCH, 1876.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections in the Township of Purakanui—situated on the sea coast about four miles north of Port Chalmers, and within half a mile of the Northern Railway line—will be offered for sale by public auction on Monday, 6th March next, at noon, at the Land Office, Dunedin, at the upset price of £5 per section. All areas above one rood to be offered at the upset price of £5 the quarter acre.

Sections 1 to 39 and 41 to 49, block I.; sections 1 to 43, block II.; sections 1 to 77, block III.

The rights to occupy Sections 2, Block I., and 7, Block II., Waikaka District (should no objection be lodged) will be sold by auction between the respective applicants at the Land Office, Invercargill, at noon on Monday, the 27th day of March.

LEASE OF TOLLS.

THURSDAY, 30th MARCH, 1876.

THE Leases of the Balclutha and Waikouaiti Toll Gates for the year commencing 1st April, 1876, and ending on the 31st March, 1877, will be sold by Public Auction by Mr. James Milner, at the Provincial Government Buildings, on the 30th day of March next at noon.

The following are the different gates, and the amounts realised by the Government at the sale on March 2nd last, for the year ending 31st March, 1876.

Balclutha ... £610

Waikouaiti ... £750

Terms and conditions of sale can be seen at the Office of the Provincial Secretary on and after the 10th instant.


DEFERRED PAYMENTS.

FRIDAY, 31st MARCH, 1876.

1,000 ACRES OF LAND FOR SALE ON DEFERRED PAYMENTS, IN THE HUNDREDS OF SOUTH AND NORTH GLENKENICH.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned sections will be open for application on deferred payments on Friday, the 31st day of March, 1876. Application must be made by the applicant in person, at any Land Office in the Province, and a deposit of 1s. 6d. per acre paid at the time of making the application, being the first half-year’s occupation fee. The purchase money is payable at the rate of 3s. per acre per annum for ten years.

Plans to be seen, and lithographs obtained, at the Land Offices at Dunedin and at Invercargill, on and after the 10th of March.

Sections 8 and 10, Block II., and Sections 5, 9, and 10, Block VIII., Chatton Survey District.
