PROCLAMATION

SETTING APART 1,000 ACRES OF LAND IN THE HUNDREDS OF SOUTH AND NORTH GLENKENICH FOR OCCUPATION ON DEFERRED PAYMENTS.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by the 47th Section of the Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled “The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council, to set apart in any part of the Province districts or blocks of land within which licenses to occupy land and leases thereof on deferred payments may be granted, either exclusively or within which the land shall be open for license or lease on deferred payment, or for sale on immediate payment.

And whereas the Provincial Council of the Province of Otago has recommended the Superintendent of the said Province to set apart the lands hereinafter specified for alienation on deferred payments:

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council as aforesaid, do hereby, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by “The Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872,” and of every or any power in this behalf enabling me, proclaim, declare, and set apart all those numbered respectively 8 and 10, Block II., Chatton Survey District, and Sections 5, 9, and 10, Block VIII., Chatton Survey District; and the said Sections will be open on the 31st day of March, 1876, for application for license and lease, on deferred payment, as provided in the “Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872.”

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, this 29th day of February, 1876.

PROCLAMATION

OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF TAPANUI.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled “An Ordinance to Amend the Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of Otago, with the advice of his Executive Council, on the petition of not less than fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders resident in any township, to extend the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” to such township, by such name or incorporation as he shall deem fit, and notwithstanding that such township is included in a Road District, with such modification as to the names and numbers of the members of such proposed Corporation, and the office-bearers thereof, and any other Municipal matters and regulations as shall seem to such Superintendent and his Executive Council suitable for the area and population of such Municipality; and, in accordance with such petition or otherwise, shall define the boundaries of the Municipality so created, and declare the number of Wards into which such Municipality may be divided, and define the boundaries of such Wards respectively, and declare which of the provisions of the said Ordinance shall be applicable to and within the limits of such Municipality:

And whereas a petition of not less than fifty persons, comprising a majority of the householders resident in the township of Tapanui, in the said Province of Otago, has been presented to me, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province, praying that the provisions of the “Otago Municipal Corporations Ordinance, 1865,” may be extended to the said township:

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice of my Executive Council, and in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that from and after the day of the date hereof, the provisions of
