The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the Government Offices, Dunedin, until noon of Tuesday, 14th December, 1875, for the following Services and Supplies for the Provincial Government of Otago, for the year 1876. The Forage, Potato, Flour for Asylum, and Bread Contracts may be terminated at half-year, by either party giving a month's previous notice:—

Cleaning Cesspools
Cleaning Chimneys
Funerals

Mixed Firewood: must be cut at least six months. Tenderer to state the kinds of wood he will mix, and about what quantities of each he will supply

The names of the Sureties must be lodged with the Tender, and it must be shown at the same time that the Sureties consent.

Schedules for tendering may be had from the Government Storekeeper after the 8th December.

Accounts to be rendered on the 25th of each month, the items against a Department to be put into one account.

The Government will not be bound to accept any tender.

T O L L S.

ON and after the 1st day of January, 1876, the following charges will be made at the various Toll-gates within the Province of Otago, instead of the charges at present made:—

  1. For every horse or other beast drawing any coach chariot landau barouche chaise phaeton curricle car or any such like carriage, Sixpence.

  2. For every horse or other beast (two oxen or neat cattle to count as one horse) drawing any waggon wain or other such like conveyance if the total number shall not exceed six horses (or what is hereby made equivalent to six horses), Sixpence.

  3. For every horse or other beast (two oxen or neat cattle to count as one horse) drawing any waggon wain or other such like conveyance if the total number shall exceed six horses (or what is hereby made equivalent to six horses), One Shilling.

  4. For every horse or other beast (two oxen or neat cattle to count as one horse) drawing any waggon wain or other such like conveyance if the total number shall exceed eight horses (or what is hereby made equivalent to eight horses), Two Shillings.

  5. For every horse or other beast if the total number shall not exceed three drawing any Whitechapel cart or dray on two wheels, Sixpence.

  6. For every horse or other beast if the number shall exceed three drawing any Whitechapel cart or dray on two wheels, One Shilling.

  7. For every horse mule or ass laden or unladen or not drawing, Sixpence.

  8. For every drove of horses mule or asses unladen or not drawing, Threepence for every head.

  9. For every drove of oxen cows or neat cattle the sum of Three Shillings and Fourpence per score and so in proportion for any greater or less number.

  10. For every drove of calves swine goats sheep or lambs the sum of Tenpence per score and so in proportion for any greater or less number.


NOTICE

CROWN GRANTS for the Land, and in favour of the persons after-mentioned, are now ready for delivery; and attention is directed to the following clauses of the "Crown Grants Act 1866."

Clause XXXIX.—There shall be paid upon all Grants to be hereafter issued, which may be left in the charge or custody of any Commissioner of Crown Lands, or other officer charged with the delivery of the same, a fee of Sixpence for every month during which they shall be so left after the expiration of three months from the date of the notice in the Gazette of the Province wherein the lands are situate, that such Grants are ready for delivery.

WEDNESDAY, 1st DECEMBER, 1875.

RUN 413 Sunnyside, Waiau.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the lease for ten years, of Run 413, bounded towards the north by the Monowai River, towards the south by the Monowai bush, towards the east by the Waiau River, and towards the west by the Monowai bush; and containing 7800 acres, will be offered for public auction at the Land Office, Invercargill, on Wednesday, 1st day of December next, at noon, in terms of the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872," at the upset price, or annual rent of 1d. per acre. The bidder of the highest annual rental in addition to the assessment payable under the 138th clause of the said act, shall be the purchaser. Assessment of three shillings and sixpence for every head of great cattle, or seven pence for every head of small cattle depastured on the Run, will be charged, but the minimum assessment will be charged shall not be less than 3000 sheep.

Lease to commence on the 26th day of July, 1876 and expire on the 25th day of July 1886, or to determine on 12 months' notice from the Commissioner of Crown Lands to the Lessee to that effect, without liability on the part of the Government or Waste Lands Board for compensation for improvements. The right to take a road 5 chains broad, for stock travelling, is retained by Government. No previous lessee, on purchasing the lease, to be entitled to exercise a pre-emptive right to purchase land on Run. Improvements, enhancing the value of the Run, made by lessee, to be paid by the incoming tenant, before obtaining possession. A deposit, of one-tenth of the purchase money, shall be payable on the fall of the hammer, the balance within a month.
