the provisions of the "Otago Municipal Corporations
Ordinance, 1865," may be extended to the said
townships; Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew,
Superintendent of the said Province, with the advice
of my Executive Council, and in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me
in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare, that
from and after the day of the date hereof, the pro-
visions of the said "Otago Municipal Corporations
Ordinance, 1865," specified in the first schedule
hereto, shall extend to the said township of Winton,
by and under the name of the Corporation of the
town of Winton, and shall be applicable to and
within the Municipality hereby created. And I do,
with the like advice of my said Executive Council,
proclaim and declare that such of the said provisions
as are contained in the sections of the said last-men-
tioned Ordinance, specified in the first column of the
second schedule hereto, shall extend to the said town-
ship, and be applicable to the Municipality hereby
created, with and subject to the respective modifi-
cations contained herein, and in the second column
of the said second schedule hereto. And I hereby,
with the advice of my said Executive Council, pro-
claim and declare that the boundaries of the Munici-
pality hereby created shall be those specified in the
third schedule hereto. And I do hereby, with the
advice of my said Executive Council, declare that
the said Municipality hereby created shall be divided
into Two Wards, to be known respectively as North
Ward and South Ward, and that the boundaries of
the said Wards shall be those respectively defined in
the fourth schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

The Sections of the "Otago Municipal Corporations
Ordinance 1865," containing the provisions of the said
Ordinance, extended to and applicable within the Incor-
porated Town of Winton, that is to say, sections num-
bered 6 to 11 both inclusive; sections numbered 13, 14,
15, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26; sections num-
bered 29 to 97 both inclusive; sections numbered 99 to
to 113 both inclusive; and sections numbered 116 to 122
respectively.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

Sections of the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," applicable to the Incorporated Town of
Winton, with modifications set opposite the
numbers of the Sections.

NUMBERS OF SECTIONS. MODIFICATIONS.
Section Five The style shall be "The Corpora-

tion of the Town of Winton,"
instead of "The Corporation of
the City of Dunedin." |
| Section Twelve | Instead of "each of the said four
several Wards of the City
of Dunedin," the following
modification: "each of the
said two several Wards of
the Incorporated Town of
Winton." |
| Section Twenty-eight | Instead of the words "City of
Dunedin," in this Section the
words, "the Incorporated Town

| Section Ninety-eight | Instead of the words "one hun-
dred thousand pounds" in this
Section, the words "ten thou-

THIRD SCHEDULE.

Boundaries of the Incorporated Town of Winton, as deli-
neated on the record maps of the said town, deposited in
the Survey Office, Invercargill, in the said Province.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Province of
Otago, comprising one hundred and forty-eight (148)
acres, known as the township of Winton, bounded on the

north by sections 37 and 38, block I, East Winton, 2347
links, and public road 150 8-10ths links; on the west, by
a continuation due south of the west boundary of section
37, block I, East Winton, to the north boundary of sec-
tion 1, block VI, East Winton, 6,100 links; on the south,
by sections 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5, block VI, 2943 links, and
public road 163 3-10ths links; towards the east, by sec-
tions 2 and 1, block V, distances of 108 links and 222
links; towards the south-west, by section 1 aforesaid,
274 links; towards the north-east by public road 100
links, sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15,
16, and 17, block V, Town of Winton, 1636 links, and
150 links; again on the south-east, by section 17 of said
block V, 134 links; again towards the north-east and
south, by lines being the boundary of a public road at
bearings and distances respectively of 340 deg. 32 min.,
478 links; 326 deg. 42 min., 784 links; 12 deg. 22 min.,
497 links and 1161 links; 33 deg. 24 min., 498 links;
10 deg. 4 min., 784 links; and 354 deg. 13 min., 106 links,
to north boundary.

FOURTH SCHEDULE.

NORTH WARD
Comprises all that portion of the said Township situate
on the north side of Meldrum street.

SOUTH WARD
Comprises all the remaining portion of the said Township.

public seal of the Province of Otago,
at Dunedin, this twentieth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five.

MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF WINTON.

Appointment of Mr. John Lancelot Shadwell Keen
to prepare the Citizens' Roll for the incorporated
Town of Winton.

WHEREAS the Town of Winton was, by Pro-
clamation dated the 20th day of November,
and published in the Otago Government Gazette
No. 995 incorporated by the name of the "Cor-
poration of the Town of Winton" and certain pro-
visions of the "Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," were, by such Proclamation, extended
to, and declared applicable to and within the Muni-
cipality thereby created: And whereas by the 117th
section of the said "Otago Municipal Corporations
Ordinance, 1865," it is amongst other things enacted
that for the purposes of the first elections under the
said Ordinance, or any of them, should be extended
as therein provided, the Superintendent of Otago for
the time being should appoint some fit and proper
person to prepare the Citizens' Roll for such town
to be borne
and the expense of which shall
and paid by the Council of the Town or place elected
thereunder, for which any such Citizens' Roll should
be prepared: And whereas Mr. John Lancelot Shad-
well Keen, of Winton, has been represented to me to
be a fit and proper person to prepare the Citizens'
Roll for the said incorporated town of Winton:
Now therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent
of the Province of Otago, in exercise of the powers
vested in me by the said "Otago Municipal Corpora-
tions Ordinance, 1865," do nominate and appoint the
said

MR. JOHN LANCELOT SHADWELL KEEN,
to be the person to prepare the Citizens' Roll for the
said incorporated town of Winton.
As witness my hand this twentieth day of Novem-
ber, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.
