NOTICE.

A SUM of £1100 having been voted by the Provincial Council to assist in providing buildings to be used as Athenæums in localities where no such buildings have as yet been erected.

It is hereby notified to those desirous of participating in the vote, that in order to do so it will be necessary to forward a written application, stating the amount collected, and giving a general description of the approximate cost of the building proposed to be erected. The sum voted will be distributed pro rata to the contributors of the district, provided that in no case shall the contribution of the Government exceed the sum of £250 to any building.

Applications to be received at this office on or before the 1st day of March, 1876, after which date no further application for subsidy will be entertained during the current financial year.

Tenders to be indorsed "Tender for Contract No. 1076 to 1079," as the case may be.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Valuation Assessment for the year, 1875, has been submitted to and allowed by the Council, is now deposited, and may be inspected by persons interested therein at this office, between the hours of One and Four p.m.

It is also further notified that appeals against the assessment may be lodged with the undersigned until the 27th day of November inst. The appellant must also lodge a copy of the appeal with the Clerk of the Resident Magistrate's Court six clear days before the day appointed for the hearing such appeals.
