PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

A LARGE and valuable assortment of Public Library Books will be ready for distribution shortly. A list of the books is in course of preparation. As this list will exhaust the supply from Britain for the present, Library Committees and Settlers in localities not yet provided with a list are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity of taking the advantages offered by the Provincial Government Public Library Scheme.

Printed Catalogues of books, and other information, will be furnished on application.

OAMARU GRAMMAR SCHOOL.

SCHOOLMISTRESS WANTED.

APPLICATIONS are invited, up to the 30th of November, for the situation of Infant Schoolmistress—salary, £115 per annum. Applicants must be prepared to enter on their duties on 15th January, 1876.

A SCHOOLMASTER is required for the newly established School at Fortrose. Salary: £60, school fees, residence, and ten acres globe. Thirty pupils guaranteed. Preference will be given to a married man, whose wife, or himself, would undertake to instruct children whose parents may desire it in vocal and instrumental music; for which extra remuneration will be given. Duties to commence at the expiration of the Christmas vacation.

TEACHER wanted for the newly established School at Fairfax. Salary: £75, and School Fees, less ten cent. The probable number of pupils will be from 60 to 70. A four-roomed residence, and five acres of glebe, fenced and in grass.

Duties to commence on 1st January, 1876.

Conditions, Government Salary, £100 per annum, with school fees, less 20 per cent; also, 7-roomed residence on ½-acre section. If wife able to act as sewing mistress, salary £35 per annum. Present attendance of pupils, from 90 to 100.

A SPECIAL meeting of the Portobello Road Board will be held on Saturday, the 13th day of November, at 12 o\'clock, to hear objections to the General Rate levied on the 2nd of October, for the year ending June 1876.

NORTH-EAST VALLEY ROAD DISTRICT.

CONTRACTORS are invited to tender to fill in an old creek, at section 44, North-East Valley, and to erect an embankment for shutting out the stream. The work will be pointed out to contractors on Wednesday, the 10th day of November, at 9 a.m. Tenders can be left at the North-East Valley Schoolhouse till 2 p.m. on Saturday, the 13th day of November, and the lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted by the Board.

RATEPAYERS are requested to take notice that the undersigned will attend at the Brighton Post Office, from 10 a.m. till 12 noon; and at the Schoolhouse, Saddle Hill, from 2 to 4 p.m., on Friday, 12th November, 1875, to receive the Highway Rate, 1875-6.

TAIERI ROAD BOARD.

THE Taieri Road Board intend at their meeting on Saturday, 6th November, 1875, to make a general rate of Sixpence (6d.) in the £ on the full net annual value of rateable property within the District, for the year ending 30th June, 1876.

The rate book, containing the several valuations of property in the District, can be seen at the Clerk\'s office, Mosgiel, until 12 o\'clock noon on 6th November, 1875, where objections must be lodged not later than said hour and date.

NOTICE is hereby Given to the ratepayers in the above District that the rates for the year ending 30th June, 1876, are now due, and payable to G. M. Shand, Outram.

SOUTH MOLYNEUX ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that a General Rate of 1s in the £ on all rateable property within the District was made on the 28th October. Also, a Special Rate of 1s in the £, in the Ahuriri Subdivision; 1s in the £, in the Catlin\'s River Subdivision; 1s in the £, in the Puerua Subdivision; 6d in the £, in the Port Molyneux Subdivision; and 3d in the £, in the Waitepeka Subdivision of the above district.

The Rate Book lies for inspection by ratepayers at the Board\'s Office.

Further Notice is Given, that a Special Meeting of the Board will be held on Thursday, 25th November, at 12 o\'clock noon, to hear and determine objections (if any) to valuation or assessment.

Objections to be lodged in writing with the Clerk, not later than Wednesday, 24th November.
