Run 413 divided into Runs 413 and 463, that is—Runs 413 and 463 Sunnyside Run, Waiau.

NOTICE is hereby given, that the leases for ten years, of Runs 413, bounded towards the north by the Monowai River, towards the south by the Monowai bush, towards the east by the Waiau River, and towards the west by the Monowai bush; and Run 463, bounded towards the north-west by the Monowai bush, towards the south by the Monowai River, and towards the east by the Waiau River, containing respectively 7800 acres and 6200 acres respectively, will be offered for sale by public auction at the Land Office, Invercargill, on Wednesday, 1st day of December next, in terms of the "Otago Waste Lands Act, 1872," at the upset price, or annual rent of 1d. per acre. The bidder of the highest annual rental in addition to the assessment payable under the 138th clause of the said act, shall be the purchaser. Assessment of three shillings and sixpence for every head of great cattle, or seven pence for every head of small cattle depastured on the Runs, will be charged, but the minimum stock on which assessment will be charged shall not be less than 3000 sheep on Run 413, and 2200 sheep on Run 463, respectively.

Commence on the 26th day of July, 1876 and expire on the 25th day of July 1886, or to determine on 12 months' notice from the Commissioner of Crown Lands to the Lessee to that effect, without liability on the part of the Government or Waste Lands Board for compensation for improvements. The right to take a road 5 chains broad, for stock travelling, is retained by Government. No previous lessee, on purchasing the lease, to be entitled to exercise a pre-emptive right to purchase land on Run. Improvements, enhancing the value of the Run, made by lessee, to be paid by the incoming tenant, before obtaining possession. A deposit, of one-tenth of the purchase money, shall be payable on the fall of the hammer, the balance within a month. The annual assessment will be payable on the 1st day of October of each year, excepting the first period from the 26th July to the 1st October, 1876, when the rent will be payable on the 26th day of July of that year.

PUBLIC LIBRARIES.

A LARGE and valuable assortment of Public Library Books will be ready for distribution shortly. A list of the books is in course of preparation. As this list will exhaust the supply from Britain for the present, Library Committees and Settlers in localities not yet provided with a Public Library, are advised to avail themselves of this opportunity of obtaining the advantages offered by the Provincial Government Public Library Scheme.

Printed Catalogues of books, and other information, will be furnished on application.

A SCHOOLMASTER is required for the newly established School at Fortrose. Salary: £60, school fees, residence, and ten acres glebe. Thirty pupils guaranteed. Preference will be given to a married man, whose wife, or himself, would undertake to instruct children whose parents may desire it in vocal and instrumental music; for which extra remuneration will be given. Duties to commence at the expiration of the Christmas vacation.

HALFWAY BUSH DISTRICT ROAD BOARD.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that the rates for the period ending June 30, 1875, will be received daily, at the office of the Board, schoolhouse, Waikari.

The Collector is not bound to call on ratepayers for rates.

All rates unpaid on December 31, 1875, will be sued for without further notice.

THE Tuturau Road Board invite tenders for the following works, viz.:—

CONTRACTS—
No. 2.—Formation and gravelling of 24 chains of Crawford's road, near Mataura Township.
No. 3.—Formation and gravelling of 15 chains of road through Native Reserve.
No. 5.—Sundry works on road near Mr A. Cameron's.
No. 6.—Formation of 17 chains of Cubbin's road, near Mr Hastie's.
No. 7.—Various works on Crawford's road, from Mr F. M'Kay's property to Turnbull's Creek.
No. 9.—Formation and gravelling of 52 chains of Galt's road
No. 10.—Sundry works on Cubbin's road, near Mr Hastie's.
No. 11.—Formation and gravelling, &c., of portion of road near Mr Crombie's.

Specifications of the above works may be seen on application at the Store of Messrs. M'Gibbon and Son's, Mataura.

Tenders must be accompanied by a deposit of 5 per cent. on the amount of offer, and forwarded either to the office of the Board or to Mataura Post Office, on or before the 29th October, 1875. They should also be indorsed "Tender," and addressed "J. S. Shanks, Esq., Chairman, Tuturau Road Board."

The lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

KAIKORAI ROAD DISTRICT.

RATEPAYERS in the above District are hereby notified, that a general rate of 1s in the £, in both Subdivisions, was made by the Board on October 5th, for the year ending June 30th, 1876. Any objections to the above rate must be lodged with me in writing on or before Thursday, 4th November, at 12 o'clock, when the Board will meet at Ross's Commercial Hotel, to consider objections.

N O T I C E.

TAIERI ROAD BOARD.

THE Taieri Road Board intend at their meeting on Saturday, 6th November, 1875, to make a general rate of sixpence (6d.) in the £ on the full net annual value of rateable property within the District, for the year ending 30th June, 1876.

The rate book, containing the several valuations of property in the District, can be seen at the Clerk's office, Mosgiel, until 12 o'clock noon on 6th November, 1875, where objections must be lodged not later than said hour and date.
