PROCLAMATION

By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS, by Section 7 of the "Oamaru Harbour Board Ordinance, 1874," it is provided that it shall be the duty of the Superintendent to appoint by Proclamation a fit and proper person to be a member of the "Oamaru Harbour Board" in the room of any person resigning.

Now, therefore, I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago, under and by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the said Ordinance, and of every other power and authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that I have appointed John Reid, of Elderslie, Esquire, to be a member of the Oamaru Harbour Board, in place of George Murray Webster, resigned.

Given under my hand, and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, this 19th day of October, 1875.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Provincial Government Buildings, Dunedin, this fifteenth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five;

Present:
His Honor the DEPUTY-SUPERINTENDENT,
JOHN DAVIE, and
JAMES GREEN, ESQUIRES.

WHEREAS, by the thirty-sixth section of the "Turnpikes Ordinance, 1866," it is provided that the Superintendent and Executive Council may cause check-bars to be placed on any district road in the said Province, and may cause tolls to be levied at such bars, and take from such persons who may travel by such district roads for the purpose of evading tolls leviable on main roads, provided that one-half of such tolls shall be handed to the District Board in which the road or roads is or are situated: Now, therefore, His Honor the Deputy-Superintendent, in pursuance of the provisions of the said Ordinance, and in exercise of every other power and authority enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, doth hereby order that four check bars be placed at the junction of the two District roads which divide blocks numbered respectively thirty-one (XXXI), thirty-two (XXXII), thirty-four (XXXIV), and thirty-five (XXXV), Tokomairiro District, and that another check bar be placed on the District Road between section one hundred and ninety-one (191) block twenty-four (XXIV), and section one hundred and fifty-eight (158), block twenty (XX), Tokomairiro District aforesaid, where the same meets the Main South road, and that others who may travel by such bars and taken from such persons who may travel by such District roads for the purpose of evading tolls leviable on the said Main South road, and that one-half of the tolls so levied at such bars be handed to the District Board of the Tokomairiro Road District.

ROAD "SOUTHERN TRUNK TO PORT MOLYNEUX."

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 9th November, for

1st. Contract No. 1064—Construction and metalling 58 chains of road, situate between Clark's and Johnston's

2nd. Contract, No. 1065—Construction and metalling of about 33 chains of road between Stogg's bridge and bridge near Somerville's mill.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at the Police station, Balclutha.

Tenders to be indorsed "Tender for Contract No. 1064 or 1065," as the case may be.

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the Office of the Secretary for Works until noon of Tuesday, 15th November, for

Contract No. 1066—Construction of 33 chains of road between Downie's and top of Murdoch's Hill.

Plans and specifications may be seen and forms of tender obtained at the Office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at the Police Station, Balclutha.

Tenders to be indorsed "Tender for Contract No. 1066."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.

TENDERS will be received at the office of the Secretary for Works until Tuesday 9th November, for
Contract No. 1067—Construction and part pitching of 76 chains of road situate in block 2 Tuapeka East District.

Plans and specifications may be seen, and forms of tender obtained at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Dunedin, and at the police station, Lawrence.

Tenders to be indorsed "Tender for Contract No. 1067."

The Government does not undertake to accept the lowest or any tender.
