Monowai River, towards the south by the Monowai bush, towards the east by the Waiau River, and towards the west by the Monowai bush; and Run 463, bounded towards the north-west by the Monowai bush, towards the south by the Monowai River, and towards the east by the Waiau River, containing respectively 7800 acres and 6200 acres respectively, will be offered for sale by public auction at the Land Office, Invercargill, on Wednesday, 1st day of December next, at noon, in terms of the Waste Lands Act, 1872, at the upset price, or annual rent of 1d. per acre. The bidder of the highest annual rental in addition to the assessment payable under the 138th clause of the said act, shall be the purchaser. Assessment of three shillings and sixpence for every head of great cattle, or seven pence for every head of small cattle depastured on the Runs, will be charged, but the minimum assessment will be charged shall not be less than 3000 sheep on Run 413, and 2200 sheep on Run 463, respectively.

Leases to commence on the 26th day of July, 1876 and expire on the 25th day of July 1886, or to determine on 12 months' notice from the Commissioner of Crown Lands to the Lessee to that effect, without liability on the part of the Government or Waste Lands Board for compensation for improvements. The right to take a road 5 chains broad, for stock travelling, is retained by Government. No preslouse, on purchasing the lease, to be entitled to exercise a pre-emptive right to purchase land on Run. Improvements, enhancing the value of the Run, made by lessee, to be paid by the incoming tenant, before obtaining possession. A deposit, of one-tenth of the purchase money, shall be payable on the fall of the hammer, the balance within a month. The annual assessment will be payable on the 1st day of October in each year, excepting the first period from the 26th July to the 1st October, 1876, when the rent will be payable on the 26th day of July of that year.

NOTICE.

CROWN GRANTS for the Land, and in favor of the persons aforementioned, are now ready for delivery, and attention is directed to the following clause of the "Crown Grants Act, 1866."—

Clause XXXIX.—There shall be paid on all Grants to be hereafter issued, which may be left in the charge or custody of any Commissioner of Crown Lands, or other officer charged with the delivery of the same, a fee of sixpence for every month during which they shall have been so left after the expiration of three months from the date of the notice in the Gazette of the Province wherein the lands are situate, that such Grants are ready for delivery.

REGULATIONS of the Municipal Council of the Town of Oamaru, made under Schedule 13 of the "Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."

No. 1.—"A Regulation as to Porticos," made under authority of section 4, sub-division 1, part 1, of the 13th Schedule of the "Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."

No portico shall be erected upon or across any public footway, any portion of the upper portion or covering of which shall be less than eight feet clear above the level of such footpath. The shape, figure, dimensions, and material of any such portico shall be approved by the Council previous to the erection thereof.

No. 2.—"A Regulation as to Driving of Great Cattle through the town of Oamaru," made under authority of section 45, sub-division 9, part 1, of the 13th Schedule of the "Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."

It shall not be lawful to drive into or through any part of the Town of Oamaru, except between the hours of 10 o'clock p.m., and 8 o'clock a.m., of any day, any great cattle (provided that nothing herein contained shall apply to horses driven in harness, or to oxen in the yoke, or to driving milch cows to water and back.)

No. 3.—"A Regulation as to Erection and Alteration of Wooden Buildings, and Erection, and Alteration of Chimneys, &c.," made under authority of section 1, sub-division 1, part 5, of 13th schedule of the "Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."

Whereas, it is expedient to prevent persons erecting, or causing to be erected, within the Town of Oamaru wooden buildings in or upon any of the places hereinafter described: be it, therefore, ordered and directed by the Council of the Town of Oamaru, by virtue of the authority in them vested, that from and after the day on which this Regulation shall come into force, it shall not be lawful for any person, unless with the written consent of the Council, to erect, or cause to be erected, within the Town of Oamaru, any building the walls or roof whereof shall be composed, or the greater part whereof shall be composed of wood, or any other similar, or dissimilar, combustible material upon any land or place hereinafter mentioned. The owner or occupier of any land or place hereinafter mentioned before erecting or permitting to be erected on such land or place any building whatsoever, shall lodge with the Town Clerk, for the inspection of the Council, a plan, or plans, together with specifications of the building proposed or intended to be erected, and the erection of such building shall not be commenced until the plan, or plans, and specifications thereof shall have received the sanction of the Council, and a notice to the effect, signed by the Town Clerk, shall have been delivered to the person proposing or intending to erect, or causing, or permitting to be erected, such building. Any such owner or occupier desiring to alter any existing building on any land or place hereinafter mentioned shall lodge with the Town Clerk plans and specifications of the alterations proposed to be made, and shall not commence or proceed therewith until he shall have received the consent of the Council.

The following pieces of land, all situated in the said Town of Oamaru, comprise the land and places referred to in the foregoing Regulation, viz.,—

All such parts of sections 1 to 16 (both inclusive), block IV, bounded on any side or end thereof by Thames Street or Wear street, as are situate within a distance of sixty feet in a direct line from the nearest part of any
