NOTICE is hereby Given that 2 block V.,
Wakefield District, 9a. 3r. 14p., will be offered for
sale by public auction at the Survey Office, Clyde, on
Friday, the 1st October next, at the upset price of £2 per
acre, with survey fees £6 3s., and valuation for improve-

DEFERRED PAYMENTS.
GREENVALE DISTRICT.—By LAWRENCE.
TUESDAY, 5TH OCTOBER, 1875.
NOTICE is hereby Given, that section 25, block V.,
Greenvale District, and section 11, block 2,
Highlay district, will be open for application, on
deferred payments, on Tuesday, the 5th day of
October, 1875. Applications must be made by the
applicant, in person, at any Land Office in the Pro-
vince, and a deposit of 1s 3d per acre paid at the
time of making the application, being the first half-
year's occupation fee. The purchase-money is pay-
able at the rate of 2s 6d per acre per annum for ten
years.
NOTICE.
LAND FOR SETTLEMENT.
PERSONS desirous of selecting Land, either for im-
mediate purchase or for occupation on deferred
payments, or under the Agricultural Lease Regulations,
will, on application to Mr. Robert Short, at the Land
Office, Dunedin, be supplied with all the information
they may require as to what land is open for sale or
occupation, and the terms upon which it may be acquired.
Mr. Robert Short will shew maps of the land, and
assist purchasers or selectors in making the necessary
applications.
LAND ON DEFERRED PAYMENTS.
NOTICE is hereby Given, that the following applica-
tion to occupy land on deferred payments has been
received at this office :—
Robert Heath, for section 1, of block IX,
Crookston.
Monday, the 30th day of August next, at 2 o'clock
p.m., has been appointed the time for deciding the above
application, if unopposed, and for notifying the objections
(if any) that may have been lodged.

DRAINAGE MACHINES.
NOTICE.—Parties intending to enter machines for
trial at the competition of draining machines—see
advertisements in Provincial Gazettes, Nos. 949 to 956—
are requested to notify to the Provincial Secretary on or
before the 30th instant,—1st, The number of implements
they intend to enter for competition; 2nd, if the imple-
ments are to be imported, when they are expected to
arrive.
The competition will be held about the end of Sep-
tember; the particular day and place will be duly
announced. Intending competitors are requested to
furnish the above information at the earliest date, in order
that the necessary arrangements may be made.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that the Gold Mining lease
of section 3, St Bathans district, issued in favor
of J. Davies and another, has been cancelled at the re-
quest of the lessees, and the land is now open for occupa-
tion by holders of Miners' Rights, &c.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that the Reliance Quartz
Mining Company, Registered, having failed to pay
the first half-year's rent, on section 17, block III, Wake-
field District, held by them under an application made in
conformity to the Gold Mining Regulations, the said ap-
plication has been cancelled, and the land is open for
occupation by holders of Miners' Rights, &c.

EDUCATION BOARD APPOINTMENTS.
APPLICATIONS are invited for the following-men-
tioned Appointments :—
Matron of the Otago Normal Institution, Salary £225;
Headmaster of the Practising School, Normal Institution,
£450; Sub-Inspector of Schools, £350; Male Assistant
Drawing Teacher, £150; Female Assistant Drawing
Teacher, £75. No residence will be provided, or rent
allowance paid, in addition to the salary mentioned.
Other things being equal, preference will be given to
Teachers in the service of the Otago Education Board.
Applications to be lodged, on or before the 5th August,
with the Secretary, Education Office, Dunedin.
TO SCHOOL COMMITTEES AND SCHOOL
TEACHERS.
THE following Resolutions of the Education Board
are again published for the information of School
Committees and School Teachers. By order,

The salary due to any teacher who may have re-
signed and left his appointment in any school will not be
paid to him unless he produce to the Secretary of the
Board a certificate from the Chairman or Clerk of the
Committee of such school, to the effect that the said
teacher has, up to the date of his leaving, properly made
all the entries in his School Register and account of
School Fees which are requisite for the correct filling up
of the Annual Returns of the school, and that such
registers and account have been handed over to the said
Chairman or Clerk. -
The Clerks of School Committees, and the teachers
concerned, are hereby enjoined to intimate to the Secre-
tary of the Board without any delay the date on which
any teacher may cease to perform his school duty, and
also the date on which any teacher hereafter appointed
may enter on the performance of duty; otherwise there
may be difficulty in obtaining payment of salary. 3
EDUCATION BOARD.
A MEETING of the Education Board will be held
at the Government Buildings, Dunedin, on Mon-
day, the 23rd August, 1875, at noon.

THE LEASE of section 49, block VI, Clarendon District,
containing 10 acres, will be sold by auction, at Cap-
stick's Rooms, Milton, on Wednesday, August 1, imme-
diately after the sale of Crown Lands.
