PROCLAMATION

Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Otago, intituled the "Executive Council Ordinance, 1861," it is provided that the Superintendent of the said Province shall in the administration of the Government thereof, act by and with the advice and consent of an Executive Council:

Whereas the Governor hath, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, and in pursuance of the power and authority for that purpose vested in him by the "Gold Fields Act 1866," and subject to its provisions, delegated unto the Executive Government for the time being of the Province of Otago all such powers vested in the Governor, or the Governor in Council, by the said last-mentioned Act, as under or by virtue of the 109th section of the said last-mentioned Act may be delegated by the Governor in Council to have, hold, and exercise the said powers within the said Province of Otago: And whereas the said lands hereinafter described are Crown Lands, subject to be dealt with under the provisions of the said 33rd section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," and it is deemed expedient to set the same apart for the purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon and therefor.

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province and by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to the Executive Government of the said Province in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council, under the authority of the "Gold Fields Act Amendment Act 1867," and of any and every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands comprised within the area hereinafter described have been and are hereby selected and set apart by the Executive Government of the Province of Otago for the purpose of granting agricultural leases thereon and therefor (that is to say),

All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago Colony of New Zealand, containing by admeasurement one thousand two hundred and forty-one (1241) acres, three (3) roods, and thirty-six (36) poles, more or less, situate in run 210, being part of block VII, Rock and Pillar District, bounded as follows:—Commencing at Trig. P, thence south-west bearing 199deg., seventeen thousand and ninety-nine (17099) links; also south-west bearing 240deg. 40min., five thousand seven hundred and seventeen and a half (5717½) links; thence north-west along the main road, from Macraes Hyde, seven thousand eight hundred and thirty-four (7834) links; thence north-east bearing 209deg. 11min. 15sec., six hundred and fifty (650) links to the Taieri River; thence north-east along the said river, to a point due west from Trig. P; thence due east, six thousand five hundred and twelve (6512) links, to the starting point; and the said lands will be open for application for agricultural leases on and after Monday, the 23rd day of August, 1875.

Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Otago, in presence of Donald Reid and James Green, Esquires, two of the members of the Executive Council of the said Province, being also members of the Provincial Council thereof, this 13th day of July one thousand eight hundred and seventy five.

Of Regulations for the Election of Wardens for the Depasturing Districts of Tuapeka, Waitahuna, and Waipori.

By His Honor George Turnbull, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS Regulations have been made for the Elections of Wardens for the Depasturing Districts of Tuapeka, Waitahuna, and Waipori as provided by the "Depasturing Regulations," And whereas it is expedient to amend regulation numbered 1 of the Regulations for the said Districts dated the 18th day of August, 1874, and published in the Gazette the 19th day of August, 1874, and to make further regulations for the Elections of Wardens of the said Districts:

Now, therefore, I, George Turnbull, Deputy-Superintendent, of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province, do hereby under and by virtue of the power and authority vested in me in this behalf, proclaim and declare that Regulation numbered 1 of the said Regulations for the Election of Wardens is hereby amended, and shall be as follows:—

I. Nominations of candidates must be made in writing, addressed to the Warden at Lawrence, on or before the thirty-first day of August in every year, in the form set forth in the said notice and Regulation following shall be a Regulation for the Election of Wardens for the said District in addition to those already in force:—

VIII. In the event of a vacancy occurring at any time by a member of a Board resigning, leaving the district, or neglecting to attend at three consecutive monthly meetings of the Board, the Chairman or Secretary of the Board shall notify the same to the Gold Fields Warden at Lawrence, who shall forthwith appoint a day for the nomination of candidates to fill the place so made vacant, and the election shall be conducted as near as may be in the same manner as an annual election.

Given under my hand, and issued under the seal of the Province of Otago, at Dunedin, in presence of John Davie and James Green, Esquires, members of the Executive Council of the said Province, being also members of the Provincial Council thereof, this twenty-seventh day of July, 1875.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity to the 29th section of the "Gold Fields Act, 1866," and to the Regulations made under that Act and the Gold Field Act Amendment Acts of 1867, 1868, and 1869, for the granting of leases for gold mining purposes within the Province of Otago, it is hereby notified that it is intended to grant a lease for gold mining purposes of Crown Lands to the applicant specified in the annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against such a lease.

Objections to the granting of such lease, stating the grounds for objection, must be made in writing and lodged with the Warden at Queenstown on or before the 13th day of August, 1875.

Copy of the application made, and plans annexed, may be seen at the Warden's Office at Queenstown.
