PROCLAMATION.

Extending the Limits of the Otago Gold Fields.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, in Council.

WHEREAS it is desirable to alter and extend the limits of the "Otago Gold Field" so as to include therein the area of land hereinafter described :

Now, therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Province by virtue and in exercise of the powers delegated to the Executive Government of the said Province in this behalf by His Excellency the Governor of New Zealand in Council, under the authority of the "Goldfields Act Amendment Act, 1867," and of any and every other power in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that all that area of land hereinafter described shall henceforth be included within and form part of the "Otago Gold Field," that is to sayβ€”

All that area in the Province of Otago, containing by estimation three thousand two hundred (3200) acres, more or less, commencing at a point on the present boundary of the Otago Gold Field about a mile north-west from Mount Fortune, thence to the south-west tributary of the north branch of the Wainakarua river, and along the same to its junction with the said branch, and by the north branch of the Wainakarua river to the present boundary of the Gold Field, about half-a-mile from the southern corner of Run 217, and thence south-east along the present boundary of the Gold Field to the starting point.

Given under my hand and issued under the public seal of the Province of Otago, in the presence of Donald Reid and George Turnbull, Esquires, two of the members of the Executive Council of the said Province, being also members of the Provincial Council thereof, this second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-five.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Provincial Government Buildings, Dunedin, this 16th day of March, 1875.

Presentβ€”His Honor the Superintendent; George Turnbull, and Robert Stout, Esquires.

WHEREAS by the 36th section of the "Turnpikes Ordinance, 1866," it is provided that the Superintendent and Executive Council may cause check-bars to be placed on any district road in the said Province, and may cause tolls to be levied at such bars, and taken from such persons who may travel by such districts roads for the purpose of evading tolls leviable on main roads, provided that one-half of such tolls shall be handed to the District Board in which the road or roads is or are situated :

Now, therefore, His Honor the Superintendent, in pursuance of the provisions of the said Ordinance, and in exercise of every power and authority enabling him in that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of his Executive Council, doth hereby order that a check-bar be placed at the north-western extremity of Melrose, being originally part of section numbered three (3) block I., Upper Kaikorai District, and that tolls be levied at such bar and taken from such persons who may travel by such said road running through the private township of Melrose for the purpose of evading tolls leviable on the said district road, and that one-half of the tolls levied at such check-bar be handed to the District Board of the Roslyn Road District.

I HEREBY give Notice, that I intend to construct a Water Race for irrigation, and domestic purposes, on Mr. Main's Run 205, Hyde, commencing at a point at Coal Creek two hundred yards above the shepherd's stone hut, on the bridle track leading to Taieri
