PUBLIC NOTICE.
Under Section 1, Regulation IV.

WHEREAS I have received sufficient proof that the portion of the Otago Goldfield, described in the Schedule hereto, is for the whole or the greater part of an inferior character as regards the value of its gold deposits: Now, therefore, I hereby give notice that the same may be occupied by holders of Miners\' Rights in claims of the undermentioned size:—

One (1) acre for each holder of a miner\'s right, provided that no block claim shall comprise more than six (6) acres altogether.

All that portion of the Otago Goldfields, situated on spur between Wet and Coal gullies, having the Band of Hope water race on north 200 yards, wrought ground on the south and east 150 yards, telegraph line on the south 100 yards, and Crown lands on the west 200 yards.

TENTH SCHEDULE.

District of Dunstan, Mount Ida, 8th March 1875.
To the District Land Officer at Naseby.

WE hereby give notice, that we have constructed a water race for household purposes, irrigation, and driving water wheel, commencing at a point three quarters of a mile below White Horse Hotel, Dunstan Road, and terminating at Lauder Home Station.

The length of such water race is three miles, or thereabouts, and its course is south-west.

The mean depth and breadth of such water race is 2 feet 6 inches by 1 foot 6 inches, and is capable of carrying two heads of water.

UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO.

SCOTT SCHOLARSHIP.

THE Competition for the Scott Scholarship will take place on the 1st of May.

The subjects for examination will be as follow:—
I. English, to which special prominence will be given.
II. Latin.
III. Arithmetic.
In addition to the above, each candidate will also be examined in not more than two of the following voluntary subjects:—Greek, one Modern Language, Geometry and Algebra, Chemistry and Physical Science, Geography and History.

The Scholarship is tenable for three years, and of the value of £20 per annum.

The names of competitors must be sent to the Registrar on or before the 28th of April, together with a notification of the voluntary subjects selected.

UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO.

THE Session for 1875 will be opened on Tuesday, the 4th of May. The Matriculation Examination will be held on the 1st and 3rd, commencing at 10 a.m.

BOYS\' HIGH SCHOOL, DUNEDIN.

THE Second Quarter will commence on Monday, the 19th instant. Fee, £2 per quarter, payable in advance. The Rector, Mr. William Norrie, M.A., who has now arrived will make arrangements for receiving pupil boarders as soon as possible. The charge for board, including washing and tutorial assistance is £40 per annum.

Salary: Government subsidy of £100 and School Fees, amounting to over £50. There is a good dwelling-house, with ten acres of land enclosed.
