All that area in the Province of Otago containing by admeasurement 10a. 2r. 14 poles, more or less, being a road line situate in Block VI., Otepopo Survey District, bounded towards the north and north-east by part of section numbered 16, and Sections 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and 23, ten thousand eight hundred (10,800) links, more or less; towards the south-east by Sections numbered 2 of 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, and 46; ten thousand three hundred and fifty (10,350) links, more or less; towards the south and south-west by part of Section numbered 29 and Sections 30, 31, and 32, ten thousand eight hundred (10,800) links, more or less; and towards the north-west by Sections numbered 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, and 38, ten thousand four hundred (10,400) links, more or less.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

I, JAMES MACANDREW, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, by virtue of the powers vested in me by section 180 of the Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871, and of every other power enabling me in this behalf, do hereby and with the consent and approval of my Executive Council, do hereby proclaim and direct that tolls shall be payable and collected at the Kaikorai Toll-bar on the District road in the Kaikorai Valley, for all animals and vehicles passing or repassing through the same.

PROCLAMATION.

Declaring the “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” to be in operation within a certain District in the Province of Otago.

By His Honor James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance made by the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, entitled the “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” it was enacted that it should be lawful for the Superintendent from time to time by Proclamation in the Provincial Government Gazette, to declare that the said Ordinance should come into operation within any district, and thereby to proclaim the limits of the district. And whereas by “The Otago and Southland Union Act, 1870,” it was enacted that in every Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Southland the terms “Superintendent” and “Provincial Government Gazette” should, upon the coming into operation of the said Act, be construed as and should mean respectively the Superintendent for the time being of the Province of Otago (therein called the “new Province”), and the Government Gazette of the said Province of Otago.

Now therefore, I, James Macandrew, Superintendent of the Province of Otago, do hereby by virtue of all the powers enabling me in this behalf, proclaim and declare that the said “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” shall come into operation on and after this day within the District hereinafter described, as the limits of the said District are defined and described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

All that parcel of land in the Province of Otago, being the Appleby Subdivision of the Invercargill Road District, bounded towards the north-west by Waihopai Subdivision; on the east, by the boundary of the Invercargill Road District, towards the south by the southern boundary of block XIX, Invercargill Hundred, and its continuance due east and towards the west by the western boundary of the Invercargill Road District.

SCHEDULE.

All that area in the Province of Otago bounded by a line proceeding from a point on the Ocean Beach due east to the Oreti River, at the junction of the Makarewa, thence by the Oreti River to the boundary of the Oreti electoral district, thence in an easterly direction along the said boundary to a point due north from the western boundary of block I, Lindhurst Survey District, thence due south to the Hedgehope stream, thence in a westerly direction along the said stream and the northern boundary of block I, Forest Hill Survey District to the Makarewa River, thence south-westerly along the said river to the eastern boundary of block XIII, Invercargill Survey District, thence due south to the Waihopai River, thence westerly along the said Waihopai River and the western shore of the New River Estuary to the Ocean, thence north-westerly along the Ocean Beach to the starting point.

By virtue of the powers vested in me by the Ordinance passed by the Superintendent of the Province of Southland, with the advice and consent of the Provincial Council thereof, entitled “The Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” and of all the powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby appoint you, the said William Russell, to give the notices and to enforce the provisions of the “Thistle Ordinance, 1862,” as provided in the said Ordinance.
