NOTICE.

At a Meeting of the Peninsula Road Board held on
the 15th inst., it was resolved to borrow the sum
of three thousand (3000) pounds, to be divided amongst
the various Sub-divisions in proportion to the amount of
Rates collected in each.

Ratepayers having any objections to the measure con-
templated, must forward the same to me, in writing,
within thirty days from the date of the present advertise-
ment.

District Road Boards are reminded of the Ac-
count of Receipts and Disbursements for the year
ended 30th June, 1874, required by the General Govern-
ment, which has only yet been furnished by a few of the
Boards, and are requested to send it in to this office with-
out further delay.

NOTICE.

Notice is hereby Given to the Ratepayers in the
Portobello Road District, that the Road Board
have resolved to levy a General Rate of twelve pence in
the £ on all rateable property within the district, on the
first of October, 1874, for the year ending June, 1875.
The Rate-roll lies for inspection at the house of the
undersigned.

NOTICE.

The Blueskin District Road Board hereby give notice
of their intention, on November 2nd, 1874, to make
a general Rate of One Shilling in the pound on the full
net annual value of all properties within the district, for
the period ending June 30th, 1875.

Statements of the proposed rate may be seen at the
following places:—

Mr. Quayle’s Store, Blueskin
Messrs. Thomson Bros.’ Store, Port Chalmers
Mr. Bolt’s House, Purakanui.

All objections to the rate must be delivered, in writing,
to the Clerk not later than October 31st, 1874; and the
Board will hear and decide all such objections at a meet-
ing for that purpose at their office, on Monday, Nov.
2nd, at 12 o’clock noon.

NOTICE is hereby Given, that the Road Board in-
tend to make a Road Rate of One Shilling per
pound on all the rateable property in the District, on
Saturday, 3rd October, 1874.

The statement of the proposed rate is open for inspec-
tion at the Highcliffe School-house.

AMENDED NOTICE.

WHALING BONUS, £500.

Open until the first day of Nov. 1874.

The Provincial Government will pay £250 by way of
Bonus to the first vessel which leaves the Province
fully equipped for a whaling cruise; provided such vessel
shall leave on or before the 1st day of November 1874;
also £250 on her returning to the Province with a cargo
of oil; provided that such vessel is owned in, and hails
from a port within the Province. Vessel not to be under
150 tons. Provided also that she carries at least five
boys as apprentices. Bonus will be paid on production
of certificate from the Harbor Master that these provi-
sions have been complied with.

NOTICE.—ATHENÆUMS.

A sum of £1500 having been voted by the Provincial
Council to assist in providing buildings to be used
as Athenæums in localities where no such buildings have
as yet been erected.

It is hereby notified to those desirous of participating
in the vote, that in order to do so it will be necessary
to forward a written application, stating the amount col-
lected, and giving a general description of the appropri-
mate cost of the building proposed to be erected. The
sum voted will be distributed pro rata to the contribu-
tors of the district, provided that in no case shall the con-
tribution of the Government exceed the sum of £250 to any
building.

Applications to be received at this office on or before
the 1st day of October proximo, after which date no fur-
ther application for subsidy will be entertained during
the current financial year.
